Can anyone help the class clown? It seems poorer teams need or want more money.

Richer teams say they agree. But instead of a pure revenue share, the richer teams say "don't look at us, get it from the players".

Clearly, there is an economic model whereby players, rich teams and poor teams all make money, and whereby the owners earn a reasonable profit on the size of their investment.

I think a true union would address pensions, health benefits etc first, ensure owners are profitable, and then create a system whereby capitalism and free markets allow for bidding on players.

In my opinion, the union's priorities should be in the order I provided.

Who has told you that these young players couldn't have had career years by playing inspired hockey along side a legendary player?
- MJL

Giroux I'm sure was gonna turn out to be great one way or the other but it sounds to me that you're debating that a guy Jagr has no influence over this. Giroux is playing on a line with a living legend and getting Mario stories whispered in his year all season. Even being compared to Mario. You really think that doesn't motivate a young player to be the best, when being compared to the best? Wow. I know that inspires him because I'm young myself still and I have a pretty good idea of how guys my age think. I know when I hear stories of heroes, legends or my father for this matter, I compare myself. How can I match up?

This players openly voiced that they wanted Jagr back. These players were good before Jagr got here but they had career seasons while he was here.

I am really not understanding why there is a debate or any questions about this? Why put a negative spin on a positive storyline? Do you feel players aren't really this sentimental? Because I can tell you right now that Mike Richards thought the world of playing with Peter Forsberg

I'm really not understanding where you are getting any of this from, or who has said any of this. It sure seems as though you are reading into statements made what clearly isn't being said. Nobody, myself included has denied the positive influence Jagr had on the team last Season.

I like this article. What I don't like about the posts is the assumption that fans would look past his "whining" if he was a flyer and accept it. What would actually happen is that flyer fans would realize that crosby doesn't whine, he talks to the refs as is his job as captain. people play the body hard on crosby ecause he's the best, but when he gives it back to them he's called dirty. I'm not a complete crosby apologist, he's not the cleanest player by far, but its not that fans would forget his "whining" they flat out wouldn't see whining out of crosby at all.

You can drink the Kool Aid from Reverend Cindy Crosby, but please remember those that did so in Jonestown.

You and I have had a disagreement on whether or not to walk away from such an inspirational leader. I am disagreeing with you and naming off the reasons why I disagree with you. When a player of jagr's stature is getting players to workout with him on their own time, I think you should want such a player around. These young players were asking for an encore and if it wasn't for his new price tag, I feel we should have gone for it. If it isn't broke, then why fix it?

They asked Jagr to wait while they tried to fill other areas he elected to not wait and sign with Dallas. It's not as if he wasn't a priority just wasn't the top one.

my point exactly. pens fans drink gold koolaid now, but if crosby was a flyer, it would be the flyers fans drinking orange koolaid and bloging about how crosby doesn't whine.

There have been a few times where I haven't approved of his behavior in the past. Such as the cheap shot to the groin of another player. And his behavior in the playoff series last year against the Flyers. But for the majority of time, your correct. Crosby being a whiner is ridiculously overblown.

Would have loved to have Jagr return. But the money wasn't right. And it is far more important to the young players and the future of this team to elevate players such as Voracek into bigger roles then to have Jagr return with whatever intangibles he brings with him. He was a one year stop gap. Jagr was definitely a positive influence to the young players and the team. But not so inspirational that he was a must return.

Just a formality so both players can play in the AHL. Really has zero to do with how good either player is.

What many would consider a minor COC vioaltion, others may deem as sacrilege. You just insulted the great one on his home turf.

Nevertheless, I am a God loving man and a forgiving person. You are forgiven.

Back to the topic at hand - I can't think of a bigger whiner in the league right now than Crosby. Since you have given this a lot more thought than I, perhaps you can list 10 bigger whiners/beeches in the league.

The dives, donkey punches, complaining, cheap shots, unsportsmanlike pushing of gloves, and constant Liberace behavior is why Crosby is hated. And you are dead wrong that he would be loved in Philly. The blue collar athlete is worshipped, and the puddy cat (i.e. Cindy) is often run out of town.

Dives, donkey punches, cheap shots, unsportsmanlike play is amost a word for word definition of flyers hockey. And they pride themselves for the history of that... "broadstreet bullys" complaining... your owner is one of the biggest winers in hockey. and philly is second to one in blue collar attitude to the steel city. crosby didn't ask to be the "face of the nhl" he handles that role well. he is one of the hardest working players ever to play the game... lays it all on the line each shift . so much so that other teams and coaches have to resort to mindgames and cheapshots to try to beat him. he is almost, and I hate to say it, the very picture of an ideal philly athelete

I have bolded the "true" parts of your post.

Your gracious post contained 9 sentences.

I will give you 2.5/9.

That comes out to a, rather coincidental,

that last part was actually funny. unfortunately for crosby, what happens is he is disgustingly pasted all over the covers of magazines. he is blatently blown up by media. for example, his 95 rating in nhl 13, over players like malkin, stamkos, and yes, even claudia. had he played even close to half a year, than he should probably have been rated over them, but he didn't. all this focus creates such huge jealousy that crosby is going to be villified no matter what. If giriuex was in the same position, he'd be getting undeserved critisizim as well.
