Per Katie Strang on ESPN, Bettman and Owner claim NHLPA proposal was nothing but the same from previous ones. No concessions made from NHLPA....

Called the decreased percentage over time, now what they have remaining (the major issues) is to agree that there is a maximum difference in base salary between years, based on the contract amount - i.e., max difference in base salary must be no more than 10-15% of the cap hit between years.

The new proposal is believed to have budged between $250 and $300 million in addition to past "concessions" according to Bettman.

TSN Insider Pierre LeBrun estimates that the players' escrow contributions under the new deal would come in at 9.7 percent.

The NHL's counter-proposal today was six years in length and offered to start players' share of hockey-related revenue at 49 percent and end it at 47 percent by the end of the term.

The league and the NHLPA have until Saturday to reach a new deal before the previous CBA expires, at which point the league has stated it will lock the players out until a new agreement is reached.

Also the nhl is stating that some offers may be off the table when the deadline comes around ....talk about my way or the highway.

As to whether the proposals would lead to an agreement before any games are lost, Fehr would only say that, "we can only make a deal when people are ready to make a deal".

Meanwhile, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said that the league saw little change from Players' Association's previous proposals.

"There wasn't much movement at all [from the new proposal], if any," he told reporters shortly after Fehr spoke

eklund seems to be painting a very rosy picture to keep people coming.
that statement from bettman is far from good.

the nhl did in fact propose to keep HRR where its at, and yes that's positive.
but it doesnt sound like the players are stoked on the starting 49% to 47% share of said revenue the owners are willing to give.

I would sure like to see the final deal be closer to the NHL offer than the NHLPA's counter proposal.

The owners should also take Tessier's advice and count endorsement deals as part of hockey related revenue...

we all know they will end up signing with a 50/50 revenue sharing agreement. The fact that the owners are willing to use the current NRR and have increased the % to the players from their previous proposal is a big step forward. Hopefully it is enough to get the players to starts negotiating on that basis and work closer to an agreement. Time to negotiate and stop whining to the media every 5min (both sides).

To you it's painting a rosy picture. To me it's the kind of can-do attitude that saved the Preds!

Well, you'll get 1 of the 2 - I'd be absolutely shocked if the players let that idea find its way into the final document [and I guarantee owners would be screaming about it down the road when they realize what impact it really has].
