Does your pool require picking all weeks before the season starts? Or is this your tentative lineup?

I'm not telling you what to do, just think that's an iffy pick in week 2. Good luck.

Understood, was just looking for your reasoning behind it. You always seem well informed and I never mind having a 2nd opinion to kick around on this stuff. The one guy in our pool is basing his whole strategy on picking against Miami.

No, I just like to plan ahead.

I don't want to get stuck with any tough weeks.

Typically I picked a good team against the Rams, Browns, Cardinals, etc.

Since I am on a Pitt board, it is safe to say that these teams suck.

That's a sound strategy. However Miami has about as easy a schedule as an AFC East team can have. So they'll find a way to scratch out some wins, starting this Sunday.

Isn't the strategy to pick the best teams against the worst?

So agreed Miami in isolation doesn't make sense. But to me, if they are playing the Pats, its a good bet.

That being said, Detroit barely won last week for me and you never know.

I paid $0 for my ticket to Dolphins/Cardinals at the end of the month. That's how I roll.

You should not have to pay for that game...

Something about football in warm whether doesnt sit right with me. I dont even particularly like going to early season Steeler games. It just isnt football if it isnt cold outside to the point of drinking to keep warm.

To each their own. I saw the Dolphins in Buffalo a few years ago and I hated it. I couldn't feel my toes and the metal bench froze my ass.

Back to hockey for one sec... the League is saying that the owners are unified, but the fact that most of them are rushing to sign/extend players before tomorrow is a glaring example of how idiotic it is for the league to cry poor.

I mean, if salaries are going to go down, why wouldn't GM's wait until after a new CBA to sign players. Wouldn't you assume that their deals would be a little cheaper?

Probably means there will be rollbacks on salaries or an amnesty clause to dispense a limited # of contracts. Also, probably means the lockout will run for a while because that is going to be a tough pill for the players to swallow.

It will be more of a crunch on the better teams. It's easier to rollback a salary already signed than negotiate a new one in an unknown playing field.

I don't think it is idiotic. I think you see this in the real world all the time.

Small market teams want more money to stay "solvent".
Large market teams say "Great. We agree. Get it from the players".
Small market teams and Large market teams unify. Guess who they go after?

Do you ever pound a couple while you are officiating the website here?

Has it impaired your typing?

I have trouble typing sober on my phone/ipad.

Reading down through these posts I was thinking this exact thing. haha I went to the Steeler v Bills game 2 seasons ago and it was cold as hell. However, I was fine after a few brews and swigs of Crown.

No surpise, but I think he would have been a perfect fit for the Pens (and really my team as well). Fair contract - dude's loyalty to teamates and the franchise is really amazing.
