I want what Chiarelli is smoking.

A little high but its the going rate for young forwards who can pot 25-30 a year. I was hoping for 4 yr $16mil max but I guess i can live with the extra $2mil. It could be worse, Buffalo signed Leino to the same amount of money at least Marchand produces more than him.

I figured High 3's ... it's probably market given his production, but still pretty big ticket. Can't have everyone making $4M. Horton gets nuked after next year?

No he wouldn't. Pacioretty admitted he was a Ranger's fan growing up. Price liked the Canucks. Gionta was a Sabres fan. Its not a comment he has to make, its widely known that he, like his father was a Habs fan growing up. No hockey fan cares what team the player cheered for growing up (unless it supports a narrative of loyalty).

Yes the fan part is fine. Its the I want play here my whole career part. You be dumb to say anything otherwise. Unless PR disasters are what you're into.

Ference is definitely gone. Horton just might get shown the door too. Its too much money and its way too early. He needs to stop with these super early extensions guys will get lazy *cough *cough * Krejci....

So they pay Marchand 4.5 per but refused on Kessel? Am I missing something besides crack/cocaine here?

Yeah, unfortunately I think Horton is the most expendable of the top 6. Your not going to deal Bergy, Marchand, Lucic or Seguin. The only other possibility is deal Krejci and have Seguin be #1C. 2013-14 top 6 could possibly be Lucic/Krejci/Seguin and Marchand/Bergy/Koko. Wishful thinking on Koko, but I think he is going to be real good.

Since when are we going to start believing quotes from the person in question?

There are actually a few pictures I have seen of a young subban rocking habs gear, his father also immigrated to a french community at first and is was a huge habs fan obviously rubbing off on his children.

As long as he produces it won't be like the Leino contract which is awful/awesome. I think PC is moving way too early on this one and I think somewhere around 3 is still what is appropriate.

Completely agree with you on PC moving early on this one. I think he will continue to produce, he's shown he can thrive in Juliens system. Now it will be interesting to see how much both Seguin and Lucic get. A little nervous about the Lucic contract.

That's a solid PR friendly statement. It's status quo in markets like Montreal and Boston. He would be crucified by the Montreal media otherwise.

Doesn't Boston have less cap space than mtl?

How are they going to out offer the habs?

This is all because Harvard hasn't made a Gi-normous trade/signing yet!

He won't until the talks over, and then we'll see Thomas's contract taken by a cap needy team, and maybe a locker room type vet for another.

They've got some youngan's to evaluate during camp and the start of the season!

The " BIG " splash will be during the March deadline!
