I agree with this 100%. It's totally disgusting that they choose to negotiate two months before the season starts. It's also disgusting that they (each side) are only thinking of their pockets. Let's be real... 42%, 53%, 48%.... whatever it is.... they are all making a lot of money. We, on the other hand, sometimes spend all we have at a given time to sir down for 3 hours and watch a game. It's disgusting. If they lock out for more than 30 days, I'm done with the NHL for a while. Oh wait, I have season tickets. NOW WHAT?!?!?!
- Panthers88

Yeah, but they're in Miami. Thank your lucky stars that they're not in Toronto or with the Rangers.

I hear ya man.....I am in a really bad place with this league. As a diehard fan and season ticket holder for over 10 years if feel like I getting f.u.c.k.e.d by king kongs johnson. I have given my team all the $$$ for this seasons tickets.....they had better give it back to me if there is a lockout.

I'm thinking of simply getting rid of my season tix. Almost 10 years for me, and for this to happen twice in that time tells me they don't give a damn about those who fund their franking league.

I hate to lose my seats, and the sad thing is that it won't even make a dent b/c there is a waiting list - but hopefully more fans will follow suit and finally make a statement!

I think they are in for a shock, more fans supported it last time because the system really did need to be fixed...free agents were only signing with a few teams, none of the smaller markets could hand on to players ect.

This time is Waaay different. Hope fans sack up and don't just come crawling back. Starting in November pisses me off even more. If you can make a deal then just make it now

Yeah, I'm calling bullpoop on this entire post. The terms of each lease with each arena are different, and I would venture to guess, unless the lawyers for the other parties to the leases are complete idiots and buffoons, it is not going to be controlled by what the NHL says, rather it is going to be controlled by the terms of the contract. Of course, when you hide behind anonymity, you can make poop up and have no accountability.

I don't understand why you would be mad at your team though.

The Sabres are spending money, they are trying, I don't think they are a hawk making this lockout happen at all.

Scheduling, training camps, teams needing to get under the cap (especially if it goes down), free agents left to sign, I'm sure there are trades pending (depending on what happens w/ CBA), etc.

30 days is not a long time to get everyone's ducks in order.

- Powerslave

When the cap goes down there will be things in place to have teams get under the cap with relative ease. Whether that's a no penalty buyout phase, or rollback or whatever, the league isn't going to go to 58M with no provisions in place to get under the cap without dismantling their rosters. Ask vets if they care about camp? If you're an NHL player and need camp to get into shape then you should go look for a job elsewhere. Should the issues be resolved late Sept, or early October(first few days), then the schedule can remain the same. Free agents who haven't signed, too bad for them. Other players signed all summer. Trades can happen or not, it won't matter with the provisions in place to get teams under the cap.

30 days is an extraordinary amount of time to start a season that is planned to start anyway. If a deal got done Sept 15th, the season is schedule to start Oct 11th. That's only 26 days! Whatever would you do Powerslave without those other 4 days! The world will end!

I did not renew my tickets this year because of the lockout was once agian apon us.
Sad to loose my seats, but better then paying for nothing.

let me ask this question to the fans who are on the owners side in this, for god knows what moronic reason.

As a hockey fan, when they say "the cap has gone up this summer" has that ever disappointed you?

Have you ever been angry about that? and said, damn I wish the cap was going down?

Here's where the Escrow is going to *hurt*. . . .

It doesn't matter that the players will miss pay checks in October, when they're going to get 8% of last season's salary as a check on October 15. That'll keep any guys sort of on the financial edge going well into November all by itself.

This is the time of year for hockey pools to start, and for everyone to get pumped for the new season.

Agreed. However, you are either part of the solution, or part of the problem. If fans just keep coming back, the owners/players/whoever will just continue to treat us like garbage whenever they have a new CBA renewal.

It's not about my team, it's about the solidarity among the fans - the ones who always get kicked to the curb.

I won't sit here and tell you I won't be back, because I will. But I won't shell out the money I have for the last 9 years for these dirtballs anymore.

This is a typical Union/Management situation. Its almost like if one side wants to meet early to discuss something it shows a sign of weakness or desperation. Its stupid and useless but this happens all the time in CBA's everywhere.

Acutally, I have been annoyed with the cap going up. I've been on record many times in these forums as saying "glad we wasted a season for this crap," and things to that effect. The writing was on the wall for this years ago, and I do believe there wre a number of fans upset when the cap kept climbing and climbing. Nothing was fixed before, and they'll screw around for months this time, and nothing will be solved again. The same group of owners will circumvent things and screw it up for everyone (well, once again, the fans).

This is awesome news.

If anyone gets tickets to Smurfs on Ice at the ACC, p.m. me.

Thanks

- Atomic Wedgie

With no hockey, mabie the folks running the ACC in Toronto can make it up to fans in a big way: Get Led Zeppelin featuring Jason Bonham as the drummer to play at the ACC. I've only been dreaming of this since John Bonham died in 1980 & the band broke up.

Also on another night at the ACC reunite Roger Watters & David Gilmour...Pink Floyd.

Who needs crappy hockey if concerts like this are lined up.

Actually u should post Styx's Grand Illusion since the owners & players are indeed creating a GRAND ILLUSION trying to comvince us that they care about the fans when the truth is THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE FANS PERIOD. The fans are nothing but a pawn in their greedy game of riches.

When will the fans get TRULY fed up???? U know the gum squashed into the sidewalk that miliions of people walk over? Well that gum is the fans & the owners aswell as the players keep stepping all over us. They think were puppets. They think were going to run & jump for joy when Bettman declares in Dec or Jan or even OCT 2013.................GAME ON!!! Sorry Gary The Weasell Bettman not this time

no offense mr. eklund but these tidbits are really zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

hockey is becoming just plain pathetic. a watered down league with too little talent being spread out over too many teams and teams in places that shouldn't even have teams. and their marquee event is an outdoor jokefest.

sad, sad, sad.
