How I wish Walking Dead was on HBO. Tits, swears and more gore would make it even better.

I think some of the stuff from the graphic novels wouldnt even make it onto HBO. The scenes with Lori and her baby and what The Governor does to Michonne spring to mind.

So stoked for the new season.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up to high. The second season was so up and down and the first season started so great, but faded after the fourth or fifth episode. I find the good episodes are amazing, but there is too much build up and dialogue in between. Less talk more zombies.

I wouldn't have made Landeskog captain I would have gone with O'reilly, but at I don't have a problem with it. If he really stood out as a leader on the team that management saw as the future captain then there's no reason to delay it. The kid has one hell of a head on his shoulders and I don't see him collapsing under the pressure.

Cloutier, I laugh at your assessment that the Oilers have more depth than the Avs. More skill? Sure that's a fair enough remark, but your incessant female doging in blogs after every game other teams shut down the Oilers defensively is evidence enough the Oilers don't have depth. They cannot adjust to different play styles all they have is their run-and-gun offense. The Avs however, do adjust they have their identity as a fast team, but can play defensively as well, not saying they are the best all around team, just they are better than the Oilers in that regard.

Avs fans, looking back would you still do the Varlamov trade? Forsberg-Duchene-Landeskog would make a pretty nice looking top line of the future....

Yes, the Walking Dead.....at least it's something to watch. Now we know where Brian Burke has been hiding the last 18 months. He's been recording shows, playing the part of Hershell. He's looking pretty raged on there!

The Avs have better depth and experience. The Oilers have better offensive potential.

Stasny << Eberle
Duchense > Hall
O'Reilly > Hemsky
Hejduk >> Smyth
Landenskog > RNH
D. Jones >> R. Jones
Parenteau >> Gagner
Downie > Eager/Hordy/Belanger/Paajarvi combined

Johnson > N. Shultz
Zanon < Smid
Hedja = Whitney
O'Byrne > Sutton
O'Brien = Peckham

Dubnyk > Varlamov

I could keep going but there's very little debate about forward depth. It's actually not even close today. On Defense the Avs have a lot of young potential stars as well but it's too close to call right now.

The Avs make the playoffs before the Oil do. They are also deadly in the shootout. Oil fans probably just care who wins the cup first and that's an open debate.

You should read the comics then. The storyline is substantially more traumatizing than the show not even HBO would sanction it. Also there are tits.

I was angry initially when that trade went down, it's a scary thought going through a season with a potential high pick lost (I never thought it would be a lottery pick though). That being said I would do the trade now, I think Varlamov has a high ceiling, he certainly has a lot of skill although he has been inconsistent.

I would agree with most of that. While I think Dubnyk is a better goalie then people realize I would value Varlamov over him. I would also put Parenteau = Ganger for now as I think think Parenteau needs to prove last season wasn't a fluke.

I haven't gotten into Game of Thrones but whatever is in it (pedophilia and the like) pales in comparison to what I read in TWD comics. I'm just too nice to spoil any of it.

I mentioned earlier the plotlines in the graphic novels might not even make HBO. What The Governor does to Michonne and what happens to Lori and her baby in the prison spring to mind. They've already pretty much said that the tv series kind of follows it's own plotlines though, so I doubt we'll see those.

The HBO Game Of Thrones, as good as it is, is massively watered down compared to the books. The books are freakin brutal at times.

Bottom line: the books are always better, but the screen adaptations of Game Of Thrones and Walking Dead have so far been excellently done. I really like that Merle is going to show back up in season 3 on the tv series.

What in the hell... I can play the guessing game, too!

Stasny << Eberle
Duchense = Hall

Landenskog = RNH
D. Jones > R. Jones
Parenteau > Gagner
Downie >> Eager
McLeod > Hordi
McGinn = Hartikainen

Olver < Belanger

Zanon << Smid
Hedja < N. Shultz
O'Byrne > Sutton
O'Brien = Peckham
Hunwick << Petry
Wilson >> Potter

______ <<< Klefbom
Elliot ? Schultz
Barrie ? Marincin
Siemens ? Musil

Varlamov = Dubynk
Giguere > Khabibulin
Pickard < Bunz

Information manipulation is fun, isn't it? I regret to inform you that purposely ignoring such players as Horcoff, Yakupov, Belanger, Petry, Paajarvi, and not going into the further depth that would have ultimately disproved your argument doesn't help your cause. Nor does not providing parameters for your analysis.

Yes, that's more in depth. I left Yak off because I didn't know who to compare him to. Comparing RNH to Gabe is hard. It's like comparing Forsberg and Sakic and if it wasn't for injury, the nuge probably wins the calder. I love the kid and he'll be a mega star. Today he's not better. By the end of next year it might not be a contest. Put Ryan Johansen on the Oil or Avs and he might have won. That poor kid. Who would waive a NTC to go there?

That being said I think the Oilers best player by quite a margin and the guy that ultimately is the one who brings them a cup is Eberle. Anyone I talk to outside of Edmonton thinks the same thing but every oiler blog I read tends to say guys like hall, etc., are better. I think that's crazy but that's just one goalies opinion.

I guess bringing up a new topic works too

Don't you think we Oilers fans know at least a little more about our own players than the rest of the league? To answer your question, Hall is the best. He controls both the pace and the outcome of play when atop his game and otherwise maintains the former. That's not to say the others don't do something similar, but none of them have shown to do it in such an exciting and dominating manner that Hall does. In the end, the stats are what the majority of people use in their conclusions, but considering that Eberle got 2 extra years of junior and Hall didn't, it's safe to marginalize such a minor difference in statistical output. With that said, Eberle is still my favourite of the 4 and will likely stay that way.

I apologize for whatever deficiencies my writing contains. I'm both tired and a tad tipsy from the events of the night. Good night to you, sir!

If I were to build a team.. and had to select a player from Edmonton.. the order would go.

1)RNH 2)Eberle 3)Hall 4)Yakupov

Yakupov hasn't played a game yet.. so obviously hard to have a real opinion on him. Hall is a great player... very skilled... unfortunately his reckless abandonment approach to hockey will cause him to miss many more games. I imagine he plays no more than 1 full season in the next 5 years... and no more than 70 games 2 out of the next 5 years. He will be a PPG player... which will only end up being about 60 points on average.

In 2 years... he has had an ankle injury, a shoulder injury, a head injury (fluke or not).. and a concussion. Thats quite the injury resume to pile up at such an early stage in a players career.. you can turn the other cheek all you want.. but it should be alarming for a true fan of Hall's. I would be concerned if I was an Oilers fan.

Just my opinion at least... love RNH by the way.. but we will know in the next couple seasons if his shoulder injury was just a case of bad luck.

Yeah, I can understand why fans of other teams say Eberle is the best... He did put up the most points, and he is a human highlight reel... He just doesn't control the play like Hall does though. Just about every time Hall is on the ice, he's noticeable...

Ankle injury - Freak Accident
Shoulder Injury - Had that since playing in the minors
Head injury - Freak Accident

When it comes to injuries, he's one unlucky (frank)er...
