Yes, but at some point, all of these prospects had some value. When former draft picks walk away from the organization, all the money & time spent training & developing them just evaporates. This will be Garth's next excuse...."Era, so many prawspects have bolted the awganization, we NOW, don't have the assets to make trades to make aw team betta."

Garth defenders.....your rebuttal.....

Hahahah LOVE the Rhode Island accent via typing. Lets be honest though.....they didnt develope guys like Rhackshani, or Romano, or Dibenidetto, because as i mentioned before they were all just filler........bport needed the bodies. What better way to put together a "competative" team then to use the carrot of making the islanders to these guys. We all saw them during pre season........NONE of them had the size or the strength to play at the NHL level. The only one to me who could have made it was Ulstrom and they found him some minutes. Fact is, all those guys leaving for Europe figured out real quick what the isles intentions were for them, once all these draft picks of the last few years started signing ELC's.

Reminds of of that scene in American History X, when he takes of his shirt at dinner. "You know what this means...........NOT welcome".

So, the way to make sure the Islanders aren't out of it by November is just a matter of starting the season in December!

Any word on Visnovsky? Hearing is today, right? The ruling probably won't be out until 2016 the way this thing's been handled.

Edit -- Also Kasper, just to blow the theory out of the water, the Isles' record in October the last three seasons has been 3-6, 4-7, and 4-9. Wouldn't call that starting off decently! I didn't account for OT losses, so adding in the loser points might make it look a bit better, but it hasn't been that the team only plays bad in Nov. and Dec., it's been that the team was essentially out of playoff contention by then for the last several years.

The problem is that's been their record MOST months for the past three seasons.
The responsibility of getting off to a good start falls completely in the laps of the coaches. And considering the quality of ours', those records are no surprise.

Hear ya, but Garth is failing by failure to take action. He's hoping the cream will rise to the top and like picking Tavares, it will be obvious to the world. Picking up waiver FA's and giving contracts to has-beens isn't taking action - it's doing the bare minimum....anything less and they'd be checking his pulse.

Dont kid yourself.........there will be a camp invite or two. Garths waiting to see what happens to Viznovsky. If the judgement is in favor of the isles, they are done adding to their backline. If not, he'll make some bogus trade for some over the hill guy who's only happy to still be in the NHL. The quote will read something like this "i was really excited when my agent told me i was traded to the isles. I know they have a great young talented group, and a winning history. I remember being a fan when i was a kid. I still feel like I have something to contribute to this team" Translation : Thank you jesus for finding me one last pay day........i'll do my best, but we all know my best days are a few years behind me.

Not going to defend Garth for everything he's done but players leave organizations all the time. I doubt the amount of turnover we've seen in Bridgeport is any different from any other organization in the NHL.

Sometimes(hindsight being 20/20) I wish they'd just throw some rooks into the lineup instead of wasting time with Rolstons/Motteaus/Jurcinas...but lest I forget....we do need to reach the floor.... (Matt Martin....when will they sign you????)

Need to sign Martin and need a top 6 winger. The isles would have 9 decent to good forwards if they get a good forward. When strome and niƱo make a positive impact, this team will take off. They are close to being very good. Need a couple more years or a big trade.

Eric Stephens @icemancometh
No result yet on grievance for D Lubomir Visnovsky. Veteran trying to have trade from Ducks to Islanders voided.
