Because I'm in Philly in months where the Flyers have a heavy concentration of home games but in Texas in months where the Flyers are mostly on the road, I have to rely on my Game Center in the months when I'm away. Nothing is more aggravating than a blacked-out game I want to see -- which is also not necessarily available on TV -- on a service I'm paying for.

On those nights, I do use the Sportlemon site to catch the Flyers broadcast, since it's my only way to see the game.

Bill - not to pretend you are Dear Abby, but are you married? If no, please disregard.

If yes, can you give me advice on how you are able to watch all those games? Do you make breakfast in bed for her? Flowers?

Any advice from you or any other of our great posters would appreciated.

(Full disclosure - just having a little fun with this one)

Yeah, I'm fine going down to the local street rink and watching the kids play (and heckling the refs ), but it still would be nice if this CBA could get worked out.

It's fun heckling the refs when you've been around long enough to actually know them.

When you find a girl you have to take care of that at the beginning. You can't spring that on them after the romance begins to fade. And when the season's over it's their turn and you have to concede what they've put up with for 8 months and make it right.

Never get into a battle over a non playoff game that doesn't involve your team.

I've had that same dish on my roof unused for the last ten years. Pointed directly south.

I thought about turning it straight up so when it rains the pigeons could use it as a birdbath.

Dude, don't get me started. My Wife is from Chicago and her Cousin works for the Hawks. That playoff series was LONG. And when it ended I had to go to Chicago that October to get married. And face a new smug cousin with a Stanley Cup Ring. Now ask me how I feel about Micheal Leighton.

Trust me, if we can survive that. You'll be okay.

You're lucky then. I tried that but I could get her to look up out of her book.

My kid plays at a pretty competitive level and I typically have this conversation at games:
"Who scored?"
"We did."
"Who scored it."
"Your son."
"Really?!?!?! Go Jason!!!!!"
"You should try watching the game."
"I was talking."
"Yeah, everyone knows that. Love you."
"Shut up!"

After being a season ticket holder for 20 years and going to games for 30 I saw the Cup skated. I have nothing else positive to say about the whole experience.

You have my sympathy.

For today, and for today only, I will acknowledge that you are a much smarter man than me.

Although I must confess many of our early dates were Flyer games - I just get an F for the conversion.

Any word on Leighton's plans if there is a lockout? I'm hoping he can get some playing time somewhere.

Im not Bill, but the way I work it.. goes as follows.

If its a Flyers game, we are either there together, or watching together 90% of the time. Non-Flyers games are simple. You wanna go to the mall? Ok lets go tomorrow night.

Tomorrow night- Hey babe im not feeling up to the mall..Oh, you really wanna go now that I put the thought in your head? Well thats ok Ill just stick around here and lay low.. go have a blast.

Or you find a girl that likes sports just as much if not more. But yeah you need to lay that out there. I play hockey a lot, watch hockey a lot and I even coach and I state that from the get go. of course that still hasn't always worked .

The thing that really sucks is, unlike 2004-05, the drive to see a Phantoms game is considerably longer
- Jsaquella

Tell me about it. I have been driving to almost every Phantoms weekend game for the past three years, home and away. That arena in Allentown can't be finished soon enough for me.

Yea, my Fiance knows full well that it goes Hockey, Her, then everything else..

Well not really, but you get the point.

She is a huge Flyers fan.. which I take partial credit for. She was a casual fan prior to us dating, but since I havnt missed a single game since the last lockout she had no choice but to start watching more.

Ill never forget one of the first times we talked about hockey.

She was saying she was a huge Flyers fan (blah blah blah) trying to get me interested in her. She didnt even need to talk, I was already fawning. Anywho.. I said to her, "Name 5 players". She got so pissed. " I dont need to name anybody, Ive been watching for years (blah blah blah)"

Last season I over heard her arguing with a buddy of mine. He was talking big and what not, he said he was a huge Flyers fan, and they sorta had a pissing match over it.

She says "Name 5 Flyers, not name Danny Briere or Claude Giroux". I quietly nodded in approval and patted myself on the back.

Damn right, watching Flyers games cost me my marriage. Well, it was one reason mentioned.

I'll watch ECHL preseason games if they are on.

My real life personality and Da Man are fairly different...but no comment.

And while my wife isnt a hockey fan she is great. But that isnt fun to joke about on here.

I do watch replays, dvr, offer to watch the kids while the game is on the background....whatever it takes

it's quite simple, take care everything you need to take care of before game time. Plus, before the relationship gets serious, both of you should know each other's interests. So, no one will be blindsided when you want to sit down to watch a game and she goes upstairs to watch the Hallmark channel. No flowers needed.
