I'm getting a little sick and tired of you coming at me with your opinions rather than facts. First of all there are contracts involved which require attorneys. Garth Snow is not sitting down and reading and writing legalese. There are people who are paid to do so. Secondly, 50/50 shot is not good odds, especially when referring to a trade clearing. Cue up the Ryan Smyth fiasco. You remember Ryan Smyth don't you? Or were you still wearing your orange Yashin jersey at the time?
Well because Viznovskys agent says they had to file a grievance thats just standard procedure. Please!!!! The guy doesn't wanna play here.....if you can't see that then the only thing moot is this conversation. Then again, this is the same person who thought shremp cocktail was a 2nd line NHLer.....30 NHL teams disagree but you thought he was because he had hands on a breakaway. Keep chirping me... - kindlyrick
And i never said it was fact, in fact i said to the contrary...
Vis not wanting to play here has WHAT to do with the contract?? You are mixing multiple things into one... Are we talking about his desire to play else where.. or are we talking about who should have know what & told what between the GMs?? keep it on point!!
I never said he was an NHL second line center... but on THIS team he would have been a better option then what was iced..

That's like saying a girl got raped because of the clothing she was wearing. Beyond ridiculous. The guy has done a sub par job as GM. It's his fault. He is not capable of his position. Once again his fault. Wang hired him. Wangs fault. Doesn't change the fact that Snow is in over his head and not doing a good job which was the original point and actually THE POINT which you are clearly avoiding again. SOS - Cptmjl
bold 1: thats not even close to saying the same thing; in fact i dont see any connection....
bold 2: direct quote from the comment you responded to, which deals exactly with the point "having said that, if he is hired for a job he is underqualified for, its not his responsibility to say "fire me" its the hiring person who should be held accountable." |

You make a good point Kasper. Might be better to save our energy for the season. No matter what opinion any of us have nothing seems to be changing in terms of the team and how they operate. |

yes, totally agree...i too blame snow for accepting a job that everyone on this website would die to have.
for reasons you wont understand (accept that), im not sure well ever really be able to evaluate garths job as a GM bc he isnt given the same resources just about every other GM has-- having said that, if he is hired for a job he is underqualified for, its not his responsibility to say "fire me" its the hiring person who should be held accountable. like i said before, if you got in a car and expected it to fly like an airplane, i wouldnt blame the car for being unable to fly, id blame you for being ignorant!!!! - LetsGoIsles
This discussion has made a left turn somewhere, and noone signaled. The fact is yes Garth is the GM, and no he shouldnt not take the job because he was under qualified. The discussion earlier on was his management skills thus far. I dont wanna hear what he's drafted in the top 5 for the last 5 years, because its not hard to find talent in the top 5. The discussion was his ability or shall i say inability to find another way to put forth a winning team. He himself said he now has assets to make a trade, yet the only trade he's made was a draft pick for a guy with a NTC. At some point a real GM has to put together a puzzle and figure out who in his system fits that puzzle, and who does not........thats where the skill is. Its not about holding on to every single piece.....thats just called hoarding.

1)you would have signed PAP for 4 years for $4Mill per season?2
2) that only matches the offer...are you sure pa would have signed?
3) do you know if he prefers duchene more than JT?
4) do you know if he was happy with the coach?
5) do you know if liked playing at the coliseum?
6) do you know if the uncertainty of the future of the islanders effected his decision?
7) do you know BOTH the islanders and pap would have to agree to signing a new deal?
8) do you know if he was happy paying crazy taxes on LI?
9) do you know if the LI water gave him awful gas?
10) do you know if wang wanted to spend $16M on a player like pap?
the common theme in ALL of these questions is "NO", you have no idea what he would have done and you can only go off of what he said. he said he wanted to hold off contract talks till after the season. thats what the islanders did; pap used the islanders as leverage to get the highest contract. to say "He shouldve been signed for 4 mil per. No brainer." makes me question if the "no-brainer" refers to garth not making the move or the person im responding to... - LetsGoIsles
Next time save yourself 5 minutes and realize this. PA was going to go for the most possible money, period. He could be playing with Richard Park and Jon Sim in Colorado..........who cares.......the kid got paid. BOTTOM LINE

The truth is, Garth will continue to keep adding and adding until 2015. Thats when he's gonna make that Ryan Smyth type trade. Until then, he's gonna keep things status quo

You're STILL phucking going with the Shremp cocktail thing........its unreal to me. Nevermind the fact that 30 NHL teams said no thanks to play center at any of the 4 lines........he's still a "player". For those of us who have played the game, guys like Rob Shremp get smashed for pulling that dipsy do bull sh1t. He's a practice player who has no concept of team play. Those AHL all star moves arent impressive at the NHL level, hence he is not playing at the NHL level.
As for Viznovsky.........hmmmmm lets see. He filed a grievance because he had a NTC clause. Its just on principle.......he really has nothing against the isles. He just wanted to make sure the rest of the NHLPA doesnt get hurt with the same misunderstanding.

Also dont forget, him actually making a serious trade means he's putting "HIS" brush stroke on this painting. He doesnt wanna do that..........if Garths playing baseball and strikes out but doesnt swing, he can always say "Hey I didnt see the pitch i liked" Thats his out.....
