Why?? If the guy is on the block... Not to mention the trade took place on the first day of the draft... Not only do GMs not have time to read through a whole standard contract during a trade... it was DRAFT DAY... he was kind of busy with "OTHER" things. Lastly.. you act like you know that he DIDN'T ask.... or that he wasn't told. Both sides knew it was a moot point. Even Visnovsky's agent has said they don't feel they will win this.. but they have to try.
He rolled the dice on a very good player, acquired him for nothing, knowing there was a 50% chance he would file a grievance & then if he did there would be a less then 50% chance of Vis winning.. those are good odds for a player like Vis. Let me guess this scenario is impossible.. right??

I'm getting a little sick and tired of you coming at me with your opinions rather than facts. First of all there are contracts involved which require attorneys. Garth Snow is not sitting down and reading and writing legalese. There are people who are paid to do so. Secondly, 50/50 shot is not good odds, especially when referring to a trade clearing. Cue up the Ryan Smyth fiasco. You remember Ryan Smyth don't you? Or were you still wearing your orange Yashin jersey at the time?

Well because Viznovskys agent says they had to file a grievance thats just standard procedure. Please!!!! The guy doesn't wanna play here.....if you can't see that then the only thing moot is this conversation. Then again, this is the same person who thought shremp cocktail was a 2nd line NHLer.....30 NHL teams disagree but you thought he was because he had hands on a breakaway. Keep chirping me...

The point of this is the isles prefer having a guy play pair 1 minutes on the back end as opposed to having the 2nd round pick.

Come on man you know what I meant. Garth traded for someone who had a 50/50 chance of staying here. My point is that it's always something. It's never a simple acquisition. Everyone comes with some sort of baggage or risk. Shall I continue or does this make any sense?

This is what happens when the team does not give the fans anything good to talk about. There is another reason for the fights but I will not even mention it because that would lead to more fights.

really he's the only below par gm?? how about the form black hawks gm who forgot to qualify his rfa's...also he is not the only former player that is a gm. the "he was a backup goalie so he can't be a gm" story is old and tired and someone who doesn't know anything about the team uses that as an insult. i'm not defending snow..but my lord this is a bit much.

i honestly don't even know what snow is as a gm. anyone that thinks he has a blank checkbook like wang has claimed is off their rocker. its clear that he is given lemons and told to buy lemonade..once again i cant take this team seriously until the arena question is answered. until then they are a lame duck franchise counting the days until it is sent to the gallows

Rolston, Pandolfo, and Staois were all panic moves......everyone knows that. The Viznovsky situation is really just a microcosm of the islanders organization as a whole. Being an islander fan is like walking into a bar craving a bourbon, and having them say they only serve beer or wine.

Yes there are former players, but if im a player, im gonna listen to someone like Steve Yzerman, who's an icon in the game, as opposed to Garth Snow who's name will be irrelevant in 20 years.

Im not chirping Snow for no reason........he deserves it. If you think he's managing this team well, then i dont know what to tell you. I was never a huge fan of PA but letting him walk for NOTHING, is poor asset management. Dumping Wisniewski at the dealine, when the islanders have needed defense for as long as i can remember......poor asset management. Getting next to nothing for Billy Guerin......poor asset management. Not extending the league leader in hits on a team starving for sandpaper......poor asset management. Inviting 4 players to camp on a tryout basis, and signing ALL FOUR of them.......poor asset management. All of these things are as a result of someone who is learning on the job. Im not someone who knows nothing about this team........im just tired of the mismanagement. The only thing thats tired here, is Snow going after players who dont wanna play here!

Exactly right. I know all about the lousy building but there is no way Wang could not bring in better players or a better coach if he wanted.

Being a GM who was a backup goalie is fine. Going from backup goalie to GM without training is the problem.

what has steve yzerman done besides pick two spots behind garth?? when it comes to draft picks its a double edge sword..if you trade someone for a second or third round pick...the masses scream why are we trading players for second and third round picks..if you hold onto a player like pa..the masses start screaming why didn't you trade him for a second or third round pick. it goes both ways. i don't know what garth is..he's done some good and some bad..i do know he is not fully alowed to do his job because of Chuckie Wang..so i don't know how to fully evaluate him.

Seriously did anyone see this??? Please give it a view, its simply stunning.
Absolutely incredible tribute for Ruslan Salei, who as many of you know, perished in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash. Just an absolutely beautfiful ceremony. RIP
