Eh, I don't see why it has no bearing...same player traded within two months for two very different returns. Fair comparison, imo. The idea of winning a trade is finding that "idiot gm" who will overpay for your asset, no? The Isles got a fair return, the Flyers got a great return. One team managed the same asset better than the other.

are we really breaking down a trade that happen 6 years ago???

It is all good to me cause most of the points you make are the truth and right on. Some people on here are oblivious to what goes on. I mean I have some sources within the organization but to be honest they dont even know what is going on. Until Wang is bye bye this will be the state of the team sadly. If not Snow then he will find some one else to be his puppet
- kasperrko

I'm not saying I disagree with what you are saying but I'm not going to sit here and stick my head in the sand and make pretend all is well and blindly support a GM who has his head up his own ass and a looney owner. Can't do it.

No it was actually(of course IMO). Just because we have a new arena does not mean FA's are going to consider this a great place to play if you believe that you also probably believe Snow is a great GM and I'm guessing in the Easter bunny. If you believe that you are wrong. See, now your statement isn't true so there!

Of course. Only if that Ritz Carlton had good food and good service like all the other Ritz Carltons have because if it didn't whats the point in going to a Ritz Carlton?

MAYBE just MAYBE parenteau never had any intentions in signing a deal with the islanders but didnt burn that bridge to USE THEM to help bump up the offers....wow, brilliant!!!
- LetsGoIsles

As you know im a huge Snow supporter but he crapped the bed twice in not moving Konopka at the deadline a couple seasons ago... (I had given him a pass on that one because i believe he thought he could convince Charles Big Z's worth in the offseason) Then not moving PAP at the deadline was foolish.. yes i would have female doged if we only got a 5th rounder for him... but at least it would have been another D-men we could have drafted this year.

and as you should know, i hated PAP more than anyone over here and wanted him traded as well....my comment was in response to cptjtl when he said the isles should have offered PAP 4.1 million and then he would have signed with the isles....

No, I'd go to a Ritz Carlton that had good service and good food or I wouldn't go there. That is my point. No one wants to play with Charles and company. You can dress Charles and Snow up in a new arena and you still have an inept GM and crazy owner. Still not appealing though I will admit more appealing than with out an arena.

No I didn't you said what if he (PA)was only signing any where for money and I said easy than offer him 4.1. This is how someone puts words in someone's mouth which you excell at. I said hypothetically if that was the case in reply to your speculation.

Youre forgetting that if everything comes together with the arena in the next 2-4 years the young group of prospects we have right now will be playing on a high level as they reach their early to mid 20's. A new building+a young team with promise (and cap space)=a free agent's target destination

I don't know what you mean by "sources" but i have friends that work for the Islanders some of which have managed to keep their jobs under Wang during his enitre tenure which is impressive. Each and everyone of them echo my sentiments and think Wang is a lunatic and Snow does not have a clue.

IF and which prospects are you referring too? The only one who could be called close to a blue chip is Strome. Supposedly we have everything(young team with promise+cap space) minus the arena. You really think once this arena is built(IF again)that Wang is going to spend? Snow is going to suddenly transform into a competent GM and FA's are going to forget Wang's lunacy and Snow's competence level and come here because we have a new building? It has a lot more to do with the fools running this circus than you want to believe. You have read one too many Newsday articles/Dee blogs.

you do realize that they dont have to be "blue chip" to make an NHL roster or have long careers?? right? Hell there are quite a few hall of famers that were NEVER considered "blue chip" prospects.

I think Wang will spend money when attendance levels are up and they're making more money. Don't forget a new building=more concerts and non-hockey events. Tell me what happened in Pittsburgh.

The Brooklyn Islanders?

The New York Islanders have been pushing for a new arena for years, but have generally run into a wall in Nassau County, where resistance to a new building using taxpayer money has been fervent. That has led to a wealth of relocation rumors -- including southern Ontario, Quebec City, Kansas City, Seattle and elsewhere -- though one possibility would keep them on the same piece of geographic territory: the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, home to the NBA's Nets.

Barclays chief executive Brett Yormark told Newsday this week that he and his fellow execs "remain very interested" in becoming the new home for the Islanders. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly -- knee-deep in CBA negotiations -- noted that the club moving to Brooklyn is "an intriguing possibility. But there's a lot of road between here and there."

The Isles -- who had the second-lowest attendance figure in the NHL last season -- have a lease that expires after the 2014-15 season.

Konopka is small potatoes - not moving PA was foolish but I think the biggest (frank)up came this past season when we didn't move Nabokov. The market was there for goaltending but Wang couldn't admit defeat and throw in the towel because the Coliseum would have averaged 1000 people per game from there on out. Than ya got that retard Snowflake leading the way "playoff push starts tonight". Oh (frank) off clown - seriously. I admire the optimism but just stop.

they drafted Crosby... The rest is history.

It's really hard to compare the two clubs. Pittsburgh has a good owner, GM, and hockey team. When you have Lemieux, Crosby, and Malkin on your team - you could see tickets to just about anyone. The Isles have nobody aside from JT, there's no interest watching this team play in 22 consecutive one goal games. The Isles are a wreck from the owner to the woman who is (frank)ing Marty Reasoner. The only hope this team has is a new owner - cut and dry. Anything else will result in complete failure.
