Totally agree with you that we will have a full 82-game season...have always maintained that position.

[]I hope your right. Maybe your exuberance is rubbing off on the league and it's players!

Only problem is there will probably be a rule stating that a team can't re-sign a player they amnesty'd.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the Russian and European leagues go through this extended bullpoop? Or do they accept modest salaries and ticket prices and just enjoy the game?

TBH I would love to hear an answer to this myself.

Not every team wants to buy out players though. The Kings are an example of that, they brought back their entire roster for a reason. They would need to shed salary, and there's nobody that they don't want right now. There's other teams like this, even if they want to shed a salary it may not put them under. Just because it works out great for the Oilers doesn't mean it works for everyone else.
- bluecoconuts

Just because it does not work for the Kings doesn't mean it won't happen. It is all about what the "money" teams want. Neither Edm nor LA are "money" teams.

It's as simple as this...

- The NHL signs a deal with the Reveen and Laughs Fleshlight Company
- The NHL offers the NHLPA 40% of revenue + one fleshlight each (quality of fleshlight received is determined through arbitration)
- Rejoice!

- laughs2907

The players would be dumb not to take that deal.

It's probably like the AHL, they realize if they want money they have to go to the NHL. Do those other leagues even have unions for the players? And as for the KHL you raise an issue they probably kill you, so no one says much.

Three seasons left on deal. I've had someone "in the know" tell me the young stars are not huge fans of Horcoff/Smyth/Hemsky and feel the trio doesn't have a "win at all cost" sort of attitude. Horcs is a good guy, but he's not the leader of the team anymore.

Aww Jesus Clouts, first you start posting in your comments again when you said you weren't gonna anymore. Now you are talking to "people in the know" like you are an insider, when you ALWAYS admit you are not.

It is known that Hall and Ebs are close to Gags and Whitney. These 4 all get along fairly well. These guys are looked at as the future where guys like Horc and Smyth and Hemmer may all be looked at as more the past. Doesn't mean there is a locker room issue happening.

Don't start sh!t.

I agree that this will be resolved sooner than later...but the amnesty you keep talking about isn't going to happen. The "roll back" will happen in some way shape or form. It wont be just as simple as players taking a 10% across the board cut, but it will happen. Players are not going to get cut from teams. There may be a short term buyout as per the usual rules but i doubt it.

And why on earth do you keep going on about Sutton? He is on this roster this year I can virtually gaurantee. Why would Tambi re-sign him a few months ago then buy him out? Makes ZERO sense.

Whitney is the Vet leader on this team and has been for a couple years. Smyth is being a great role model as well. I think they would deal Horc if they could but cant.

There actually has been no mention of an amnesty or salary reduction in the NHL proposal. They don't seem nearly as concerned about the fact 16 teams will be over the cap should this new plan be implemented. The union shouldn't care, as the players will keep all the money they're currently due to earn, even if it is for another team. And that, will be the main issue. A lot of the teams who were racing to lock up players long term at high dollars will be regretting it in the future, when other key players come up for new contracts.

EDM still has his rights in the NHL. I don't know how playing for ZUG will increase his value, but maybe next season a NHL may take a risk if he does so well for ZUG.

Outside of him doing well and getting onto the WC and doing well there, I just don't see how the Swiss league does anything for Omark. We know what he can do against lessor players.
