The owners pay all expenses with their portion of the profit. Flights, hotels, on ice equipment, practice facilties, marketing, hydro, utilities, community .... All the salary cap has done is allow the successful teams greater profit to share with the rest of the (have nots) league.

It also has spread mediocrity by handcuffng the money making teams in larger markets by the salary cap...while also requiring that they support the Phoenix, Tampa, Nashville, i.e. NHL Revenue Sharing teams, to boot. I can see a lot of troubled souls over that system.
