Oh Mikey,

"Bluff"?

The best goaltender on the market, with the highest career save % in the NHL, one of the highest since they started keeping the stat.

3 time Vezina nominee. Jennings winner. One of only 10 goalies with 6 straight 30+ wins with one team.

There aint no bluffing here. He gets a good deal or goes to the other guy.

I am enjoying folks from back East running the guy down every chance they get though.

Carry on...

Thanks for saying the same thing every Canucks fan has been saying in here for 9 million months.

Truth be told here I love Luongo and would love to see him a leaf while he is still an effective goalie, Your not getting our first or gardiner thou, you need to sit on Lou until he crumples and opens up his list of teams.

There isn't a market for him right now for what Gillis want's, plain and simple you HAVE to sit on him for a while to get big value for him.

... Which also means that Luongo needs to be playing AND PLAYING WELL, which also means that the risk of injury also becomes an issue. What would Lu's value be if he got hurt?

Can anyone guarantee that Lu won't get hurt?

Unless he gets hit with a flying puck while sitting on the bench he'll be fine.

33 years old

10 years, $48 Million left on his deal, with a no trade clause

Still excellent, but on the beginning of the down slope of his career.

If Florida is stupid enough to trade significant prospects like Bjugstad to get Luongo when they have Markstrom, Clemmensen and Theodore, then Gillis should by all means do it, but I believe that a deal to Florida is a pipedream and the only deal that makes sense is to a Chicago, Columbus or Toronto.

No way the Leafs give up any young assets of any major value for Luongo....no way at all.

So Luongo has never had groin injuries or a broken heart?

I think Gillis needs to just bite the bullet and trade Luongo to the leafs for Kulimen, Holzer/Kadri and a 2nd. He isn't getting Gardiner, Rielly or our first round pick so he has to get that nonsense out of his head. I can't see Gillis getting our first round pick unless someone named Sedin or Kesler is coming back (alright trolls, I did not say they are only worth a first round pick, i am saying that Vancouver has nothing else that TO needs enough to warrant throwing in a first round pick.)

Round 5,729 of the Leafs/Canucks pissing match...

DING! DING!...

- As_I_See_It

A quick way to get cheap hits! Shouldn't that be a suspension for a hit to the head?

I hope that your right. I really don't want him here. He'll be a major distraction and will become an immediate whipping boy. This teams is still a year away, as a playoff contender. The teams around them got better, while the Leafs stayed status quo. Don't waste the cap space and the years, on a goaltender sliding downward. If he's not good enough for Vancouver, he's not good enough for the Leafs.

Glad you like the avatar. I think the trade is realistic. Every other Leaf fan is saying "Komi and a 3rd" and I think thats low, but this seems to be satisfactory. Although I am sure some desperate team at the trade deadline could do a better deal up.

Yup.

Florida - Has Markstrom and decent mentors for him in place.
Chicago - Does Gillis really to provide Van's archrival with a #1G
Columbus - Luongo wouldn't agree to waive
Toronto - We all know the reason why it would and wouldn't happen...

Who was the last contender to trade a "#1G" at the trade deadline?

Lu is dealt after Sept 15, but before the 20 game mark. No sooner. No later.

...Thats really dumb. Luongo will be better 7 years from now than Reimer and Scrivens. Guaranteed. Lets be honest, Luongo would be good for the leafs. And you don't know, Luongo could be like Belfour and effective til 42

Enough about Lu..

Now that Kadri spent the summer with Roberts.. What are the chances of him putting up 60pts? I think it's possible.

Sadly no salary dumps. Nucks want no big salaries to acquire shane doan and sign him. It will probably be along the lines of a roster player, prospect, 2nd Rounder, 4th rounder? So probably like a franson/bozak, ashton/colborne, 2nd,4th? Even the canucks can expand and include raymond.. And even thats alot from our end as an offering, unless burke can work his magic
