we've gone this long.. a couple more years isnt going to hurt - Dozzer
Except it will get Burke fired...
And since he's started taking his time from his original "push" to get into the playoffs, I've more-or-less liked what he has done. Of course there was awful contract signings, but the man seems to be able to pull of outstanding trades. Of course the Lebda trade is about to be short lived if we can't sign Franson, and we leave Lombardi for F.A. |

Still better numbers for any goalie the Leafs have had for the last decade and better than any goalie available.
Five years left, low acquiring cose, higher than average cap hit, with a career .920. I'll take it. - HipHopisDead
first of all.. ten years
and spare me the argument...unlike us.. a GM cannot afford to assume luongo will retire.. he has to make the assumption that the full contract will have to be honored.
secondly.. luongo doesnt get the leafs into the playoffs.. cause frankly.. the leafs are no better than the florida teams of 8-9 years ago
thirdly.. why would you saddle a rebuilding team with MORE inflated veteran contracts? we already have too many plugging up spots that our kids should be taking.

personally i think Burke's job is safe til the end of his contract.
having an experienced GM at the helm while a new ownership group assumes control is a huge asset for the new owners
after this year there is only 1 year left.. if the kids show improvement.. and the team makes strides forward.. burke will get his full contract.
the ducks lined up perfectly for burke when it comes to his job |

the full contract will be honoured.
But the last four years of it - which only add up to $7 million, may in fact be honoured at the Ricoh.
Which is absolutely nothing for MLSEL - if they can obtain him for peanuts.
And if they can obtain him while moving a bad contract, it makes the math even better. |

Ya, I certainly don't want those stats or that contract on our bottom feeder team. I would rather just wait out this loooong storm and hope our prospect selection improves. - LEEROYJENKINS
I want the best goaltending possible but really I can wait through 1 more lockout shortened season. Backstrom, Thomas, Nabokov, Howard, Lehtonen, Smith are all set to be free agents and surely some of them will hit the market. |

But lemme also point this out, as I'm sure the Canucks trolls can smell blood in the water (sorry for the mixed metaphor):
The Leafs are the only franchise willing to take this risk. Nobody else has any interest in Luongo.
Scooby needs to admit this. |

not a strong assumption, IMO. Also, comparing the leafs to Florida in a completely different time and game (where this league is now full of parity) is a nice effort to argue your point. Also, aging vets? The Leafs have one of the youngest teams in the league and should be even younger. (ie.. Frattin in, Lombardi out; Kadri in, Connolly out).

This is ridiculous, I can't believe what I'm reading! Are our fans really this dumb? Have they no memories or scars from recent deals including our high end picks or prospects? And you guys are willing to give them up for Luongo, really? |

Could be the best thing for the team and Burke (if he wants to stay). |

Perhaps you haven't seen my offer to Vancouver, so I will put it out there again:
Komisarek, D'Amigo, Steckel and a 3rd.
And here's the scary part: I'm thinking we may have to keep Komi. |

Yah, Rielly and Kadri have been mentioned aswell as our first next year which will most likely be a lotto pick and quite possibly a top 5 pick. Did I say something u didn't understand, if so that should clear it up for u |

I think you`re underestimating how big of an anchor that contract is. - Cimo
I'm gonna walk you through this. Instead of handing Luongo a hanful of case via amesity Vancouver could simply place him on waivers and let clb have him. Sometimes I wonder whether common sense into any of these proposals. Your fidea is as foolish as leaders saying komi and a 3rd or canucks fans say Gardiner + |
