If by spotty, you mean weak, I'd agree. It wasn't a stellar draft class. Yet the Flyers seemed to be able to acquire over time four of the top 12 players chosen that year.

Now it would have been nice if the Flyers were able to acquire 4, instead of two players in the first round of the following years draft which was one of the strongest ever.

I hope Mez does NOT rush back. My Boss ruptured her Achilles and it was an extremely difficult rehab. And there is a big difference depending on the severity of the tear. (She had 10% left, though she did say that they don't do surgury if there is over 20% left) The surgury includes retwining the fibers of the leg tendons back around the effected area. It is not a simple procedure. And it's never 100%, you can get 99% but to walk without a limp is considered pretty good. She was just trying to walk again, getting back to Hockey playing shape is going to be tough. Keep up on the rehab but don't push too much.

My father-in-law and a friend both completely ruptured their Achilles. It's been over a year for both, but they are to the 100% level (ok, maybe 99%). Watching the progress from these.... I would think Mez will play next year, however I highly doubt 11 weeks. Interesting, my father-in-law is an avid cycler - the exercise from the bike was great PT. And, he rehabbed quicker than my friend. I would imagine that Mez young age, great PT care, and time to work on it daily should speed up the recovering.

When my friend when through it, I thought he said that in some ways that a complete rupture is better. I'm no doctor, but the thought is that its a clean cut and that the repair is equal.

And, I don't think you can push this too much. I think once the healing process is done (which is a known quantity), it's all about PT and regaining flexibility.

That does go with my info. I don't know about the total tear versus the partial. Williams came back earlier with the partial tear, so I'd be guessing the complete rupture is not necessarily better as it's not what you would call a clean cut anyway.
My boss is up and walking and feels great. Anything issues she has is minor (99% as we say) One of the things she did say was that the rehab was VERY important. And that once it heals it heals. But that people run into trouble when they don't follow their rehab correctly. I don't know if over doing it is as big a problem, that Underdoing it is. I guess I'd be interested in the doctor's view on the matter.
Glad your father-in-law and Friend are okay. =)

Rehab is very important - I agree... And, I hope Mez's work ethic and pain tolerance is high. Because, he's going to have the resources available to him.

If I had the time, I'd look up the tear complete vs partial. I suspect that a partial may heal quicker, but in the long run a complete tear might be better (closer to 100%, and less of a chance of a reoccurrence)

Just got back from a 5 day Vacation with the family in upstate NY. Man, if Hockey doesn't happen until Thanksgiving. It's going to be hard finding enough to talk about.

I partially tore the peroneal tendon on the outside of the ankle. Nearly snapped it in half. As of right now, I don't need surgery, but let me put it this way. It happened 4 weeks and 2 days ago and I just started walking without crutches... I have a severe limp and pain still.

Yewouch! This is what I'm saying. Let's move on with the idea that Mez is not coming back this year. Possibly playoffs. It's bad but it beats the alternative, losing another player to a Career ending injury.

that means squat. A personal trainer isn't even a physical therapist, the author is a hack period.
