Eberle is more skilled imo and clutch. Hall is a great player but I just feel Eberle is the better

So because Seguin played on a better team who got more wins that means he had higher production against harder competition? Makes perfect sense

Probably quite a few, my point is that to say Eberle is better than Hall and that it's not even close isn't really a fair statement, it's fine if you like Eberle better a lot of Oiler fans do, but to say Hall isn't even close to Eberle just doesn't make sense to me

Yea i agree with that, a lot of Oiler fans think Eberle is the better player, but i think that in part has to do with him being captain clutch then WJC, and also his rediculous first ever NHL goal that just happend to be against the Flames

With all due respect, it's tough to measure "clutch" until they've played in the playoffs. There are entire groups of players that are consistent performers in the regular season but still have a reputation for being soft or not being clutch due to their playoff performances.

Here's how it goes:

Playmaker (Nugs) > Sniper (Ebs) > Power forward (Hall) > grinder (rest of Edm forwards)

Playmakers are the most valuable on the team, without them, snipers like Eberle wouldn't be able to get the puck in their sweet spots where they like to score goals and therefore, power forwards like Hall wouldn't be able to get to the garbage and clean it up on broken scoring chances. Hall however has more intagibles than both Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins simply because his makeup is different. Eberle and Nugs are small quiet players that are extremely gifted offensively whereas Hall is vocal and driven and I agree with whoever said would be Edmonton's next captain. Of all of the three, Hall probably has a lesser ceiling offensively, but will likely become much more complete in the end than the other two. Nugs likely is going to be your perenial Art Ross winner/contender when he reaches his prime and Eberle will probably be a Rocket Richard winner someday. Hall will be 3rd, but he's the guy you put out in the last minute of the 3rd period of a tight game where you need the W with the expectation that he either scores to tie it up, put it away or stuff the opposing team to finish them off.

Despite everyone trying to compare these two simply by stats, there are many variables that haven't come up.

Seguin entered the league on the third line. Hall was immediately given 1st line duties.

Hall averaged over 18 mins/game in his two seasons.

Seguin was brought along slower by the Bruins and only averaged 12 mins/game in his first season. In his second season, he averaged little under 17 mins/game

That right there will make up the difference in stats.

Seguin on the other hand is being brought up in a much better defensive system, as seen by his +34 rating this year. That's compared to Hall's -3.

Now one can argue that +/- stats can reflect your D, and your goaltending, but I believe it is also a very important stat for a C, who's the main forward that is supposed to be backchecking.

Despite the differences in Stats, I personally believe Seguin will be the better overall player in the long term, but Hall will produce better stats.
Why? Hall will be surrounded by high end talent which will help his stats, while Seguin will be continue to be regulated to second line duties in Boston for many more years.
