There are the books by Ian Esslemont as well that are written in the same world using the same characters but at different times. The first book there is Night of Knives and it is really well done.

I havent read a really good book in a long time, quite a few so so books and i just started king solomons mines, hoping its a decent read, chances are ill start reading the classics that i shied away from previously cause i can download them free on my phone.

There are 10 books in the Malazan series and each of them are around 900 - 1100 pages. There are five Esslemont books I think, but they are not quite as long.

First three are amazing. (First is the best). 4-5 are meh. 6-7 are great.

Even if you only read the first three it's worth it.
