First thing they will do when the CBA is signed is hire lawyers to find Lupuls in it.

It really looks like the owners are divided on alot of subjects.

The long term contracts given in the last few weeks were mainly by teams who are in the top 10 in the league moneywise. Except Weber but you can blame Philly for that.

Bettman is trying to get a system that will help out the lower third of the team revenue wise... and the rich teams are not helping him by giving away big contracts with long terms.

This is not good.

If they can't get on the same page, how the hell can they negotiate a new CBA?

Hard to believe that the 700+ NHL players involved are all on the same page as well. That's why Fehr and Bettman are there.

Yup. They take votes and decide what's best for the majority of the teams/players.

Fact it, even if the owners are (frank)ing idiots, they almost hold all the cards. The players have no alternative other than to play in the NHL. In the end, they will cave, as most players associations have.

And no, the KHL is not an alternative.

Most will go to the KHL if there's a lockout. Sweden has closed their doors, so only the K, Swiss and Fin league will pay what they want.

As much as I hate Gomez, the expectations are so low for him right now, that he can't do nothing but surpass them

Finally, Kaberle as bad as he is in his zone, can't hurt much as a 6-7th d, with the 2nd powerplay QB role.

That's not saying I wouldn't get rid of him and Gomez if it's a possibility, but the team don't really need the cap space, so if there's a role to be found for them, as small as it could be, no point in buying them out.

- Traceur

Y'know there are a few teams that need a veteran Puckmoving Defensemen that do have cap space.

The swiss has a limited amount of import players per team. They'd have to change that for it to happen.

It does not make sense for them either to restructure their league for 1 year, the ones that would get hurt are the less talented imports that sign yearly contracts overt there.

It would be alright until the season starts or even for a year.

I cannot see the players considering the KHL as a "permanent replacement" to scare the NHL into accepting their demands.
