Well he'll get some, he won't get you what Quick or Kipper will but at the same time CGY and LA don't have the fire power that we do, something that we will rely on more. Granted LA has fire power they just seem to play a style that doesn't rely on it. - Lahey

i see.
so its no longer, "they're gonna run for the doors as soon as they get to free agency?"
now its
"they're gonna change there minds and ask for a trade after they decided to sign?"
either way we're fuked i guess huh? |

You keep up the faith then. And yet you were 28th...

Actually we were 29th unthought maybe you put the wrong place the first time but then you repeated it, obviously your knowledge about hockey outside of you own team (and probably including your own team) is very limited at best.... I know 6 year olds with more hockey sense than you |

my point is simply this, as fans, are you confident Dubnyk will steal you games? Hell we at least know Kipper will steal us wins (as our team sure doesn't). You have future stars up front but they won't get you into the playoffs never mind the holy grail. The Kings were balanced... goaltending out... - geta02it
So Washington makes the playoffs on their goaltending every year, not the offense? Gotcha |

Yea and in 2-3 years we will as well but I don't expect a flames fan to be up to par on prospect depth since they don't have any of their own |

Yea and it was expected what's you're point? Everyone with any hockey knowledge realizes that the oilers are still a few years away from major advancements in the standings, and when that time comes we will be consistently playing for cups while the flames will be dwelling at the bottom of the league |

i hate these conjectures. the future looks promising, but im far from ready to proclaim greatness.
i will say though;
the flames will most likely be ahead of us in the standing this year, but i still take our roster over the flames regardless. |

Theres no where to go but up, or at least thats the plan. Its either the way Chicago did it or the way the Islanders did... Small margin of error. I like watching the Oilers play... on the edge... more often over but they'll figure it out in time... |

Lol and you can't read, everyone knew since we drafted hall it would probably be 4-5 years before we were competing and learn to read, who said next year, I said 2-3 years genius, and maybe next year the Flames will make the playoffs and then you might actually have something to talk about, oh man Flames fans crack me up can only look at now and then can't where things are heading I.E Oilers moving up Flames moving down, enjoy being a retard troll for as long as you can because you'll be singing a different tube in a couple of years. Tell me homer, who has a better chance of winning a cup first, Oilers or Flames?? I want to see just how much of a homer you are

not that i'm choosing sides, but be fair, the oilers dont exactly have an Alzhner a Carlsson or even a Mike Green and the 3rd and 4th line players have been way better and more experienced on the caps....so yes all we hear about is the flash and super offense that they used to have in OV, Semin, Backstrom and Green, but they've always been far deeper than the Oilers, so even if the oil do have an incredible top 6, it probably wont be enough to get you in
in terms of the argument of Goaltending vs Scoring and getting into the playoffs
it seems most of the time
Amazing Goaltending > Amazing scoring
in terms of getting you into the playoffs on one or the other alone,
we have very recent examples with teams who get in on just great goaltending, even as far as the finals....G.S. Giguere of '03 comes to mind....whereas on the other hand a team like the Caps has had incredbile 3rd and 4th liners as well to compensate for their weak goaltending and ok D
now in terms of the current Caps they've replaced their 3rd and 4th line depth with stronger D, which still works
the oil need 2/3 they only have 1/3 |

I'm going to have to disagree with the great goaltending being better for getting you into the playoffs, it definitely is way more important to winning a cup, no one will win a cup without great goaltending but I don't think it's more important for getting into the playoffs IMO, otherwise the flames would be making the playoffs

but the flames have unfortunate offense and not much better D as well...they also only have 1/3
and you're right to some degree great goaltending will get you into the playoffs AND far, whereas great O alone will get u in and swept |

The Oilers have a great future... The Flames will be the Oilers of the future... I'm tight with the organization, in fact I"ll call the Flames right now and tell them to pack it in. No use even trying to be in a division as great as the future oilers will be. You win the argument.
take some Prozak, calm down... If you knew anything about what I post, here or anywhere, its that I respect intelligent discussions and I may not always agree, I at least respect a differing opinion...

also isnt Quick the most resent example of great goaltending getting you in as 8th....and sure enough.....even as the 8th seed, even if their lineup looks nothing like an 8th seed he still carried them in there till they woke up
as for the flames....its hard to find the enthusiasm....the smartest thing would be to deal kipper and Iggy at the draft or even earlier so they can get a few 1st rounders |

No one said great goalies couldn't get you in, I just said great goalies aren't as important to get you into the playoffs but definitely the most important aspect in actually winning a cup |

well no actually i pointed out that during those crazy offense years they also had 3rd and 4th lines that could put up numbers and were great defensively; Laich, Fleichsmann, Fehr, Steckel and Viktor Kozlov.....thats not what the oilers 3rd and 4th lines look like
its always gotta be at least 2/3 |
