I'd like for Ben Holmstrom to get a shot on the 4th line
- JoeRussomanno

I'd expect him to get a few call ups, but I don't think he has the staying power he needs to be in this line up.

Weak in what way? As in physical strength?

Yes.

I wouldn't be concerned about that. It's not an overly physical line, but I don't think that would be a big weakness.

Is anyone else hoping that Buffalo grabs Doan? If that deal is for real they might be looking to unload one of their extra Defensmen as I believe they still need to resign Ennis. It might push them in to dropping Jordan Leopold, who while isn't a replacement for Pronger/ Kimmo. Is an experienced guy would could put in some second line minutes and move the puck for around 3 mil and will be in the last year of his contract. With their cap maxed out they could be looking for picks and/or prospects.

Off topic apparently:

Pavel Brendl lived (lives) in the Lancaster area with his family. He was teaching a high end skills clinic at Powerplay Rinks in Exton this summer.

Do you mean weak defensively or just weak (aka small)?

No concerns (beyond those that always go with Briere) defensively. Read is better defensively than Simmonds is (at least now - hopefully Simmonds improves this area of his game)..

As for size, I think they're ok. I'd rather have Read's speed and finishing to go with Briere and Schenn than Simmonds size.

I guess I am one dimensional in my thinking, but I like one creator on each line, one guy to check and create space, and one sniper. Of course, it helps when players have skill in all areas.

I saw him at a game once when he was doing something with the fans.

Not exactly physically imposing.

do you know him?

I don't think so. I know a couple Daves who coach but I'm not sure of their last name. Does he coach for the Colonials. My son is 16U. I really don't know anyone else there. I don't even know any of the parents. We're like fish out of water this season.

Oh, I get it. The only time you're working is when you're in a meeting room.

So he's with Downingtown West. We're with East. I'm sure my son would know him. He's at Powerplay all the time.

Dont know how much this is worth.

Aaord Ward on TSN saying that "they are nowhere" in regards to how far negotiations have come between the league and players. That a lockout is most than likely certain at this point.

While if there was ever a time to have a lockout, with nutter heading back to school for the next couple of years this would be the time.

However I would still definately miss the season, even not being able to watch most games. This all just seems to me like the owners/shareholders arguing over being able to buy that viper instead of an escalade. Stupid rich.

I tried to look it up to see how close. Did you know there's a Warwick Township in Lancaster, Chester and Bucks Counties?

If they sit out a whole season every owner makes money. Only five or so will make significantly less. Wait until the bastards start laying off staff again. Not only do the players lose income but people with a modest salary are going to find themselves on unemployment and everyone else gets to foot the bill for something the owner has complete control over.

I hope one day. I honestly do. Doesnt have to be as extreme but I hope something happens. Every day I hear some BS about the presidential race, or whatever, and its funny because at the end of the day all those idiots are all the same. Off topic, but yeah...

Bringing it back to the NHL, my pet peeve is the fancy suits that sit in the best seats. They dont pay attention to the game, could care less, but are able to buy the ticket or just get a free ticket due to their connections. While true hardcore fans can barely afford tickets, and/or have to sit in nosebleeds.

Perhaps you can check out some WHL or OHL action during the lockout.

If there is no NHL I am an international hockey guy. Doesnt compare to the Flyers though. Just not the same.

If only there was Olympic hockey this year. The best of the best going head to head.

Do you have a team you root for in the minor leagues?
