He doesn't need to be "fast" - mochoson
It's an "inside joke". Homer's source inside the organization told him that the Sabres' brass thinks he's too slow. |
|

He's a stop gap, not a savior. He would effectively be replacing Gaustad's role and his 1 career playoff goal ( zero with the Sabres). - Gunner Staal
So was Neidermayer,(sorry if I spelled it wrong) and that didn't work either. No thanks. Unless we get production this kind of signing is a waste. |

Niedermayer was good for us down the stretch and then into the playoffs. For the money he made, it wasn't exactly a terrible signing. |

Rob Niedermayer hadn't scored 17 goals in a year since 98-99. Arnott did it last year.
In fact Arnott has done it every year since 98-99. |

And 15 of those goals came before March. Which means he was too broken down to contribute on offense when it means it the most. |

yeah...he really just put himself out there...
...he said Gagner will absolutley be a Sabre by the end of today and that he expects both Gagner and Ryan here 100% by opening night...if he's wrong, he's screwed - Sabres2012CUP
Nah. It will "hit a snag". He will pull that one out of his A.... butt. |

What are your expectations of a player like Arnott as a 1 year stop gap until the kids are ready?
The Sabres went with Gaustad for how many years with absolutely zero production in crunch time? What's another year with Arnott for cheaper? |

I believe the Sabres stuck with a guy like Gaustad because he is much younger than Arnott. He resigned when the Sabres front office thought he would grow into more of a player than he became. Plus I'm pretty sure the Sabres are now focused on better results, not the same we had from previous players. |

Does a guy like Arnott even want to come here?
I doubt it.
I would love him for his grit, size and leadership, but I can't see what would lure him to Buffalo besides an overpayment. |

How about the fact that he still wants to play and it's almost September and he doesn't have a contract yet? |

I think that has more to do with the CBA than anything. |

Forgive me for not knowing every detail.....
But say Ennis's situation right now... isn't there an arbitration process that is supposed to happen to get it done??
If the season started tomorrow and there were no changes from now until then.. would he sit out and forfeit games' salaries?
How would it work? |

I don't believe Ennis is eligible for arbitration yet. It's just like the Doughty situation last summer. Ennis sits until a contract is signed. He doesn't go to camp or anything like that. |

Yeah, you have to have so many years under your belt to qualify for it. Since he's just coming off his entry level contract, he doesn't qualify.
EDIT: This explains it for you: http://proicehockey.about...eagents/a/arbitration.htm |

That trade would address certain needs for both teams, and even though I am FAR from being a Gagner fan, I wouldn't mind it...
However, that wouldn't be the first trade I would make to strengthen this team. There has to be other (better) ones out there.

My reaction if it happens will be the same as if it doesn't: I'm going to assume there's a good reason for it. |

Ennis a month ago decided NOT to go into arbitration! |
