Hemsky seems like a decent comparison. However, Hemsky only signed a $5m x 2 deal. That said, I can't see Lupul signing a longer term with more money annually.
It's one or the other, he shouldn't get both.

I put my name on the waiting list for Leafs seasons tickets in 2008 and was told at the time, the waiting list was anywhere from 15-20 years.

Well the demand is not what it used to be........

I received a phone call on this past Friday, I was advised that a pair of greens became available.

If the season's cancelled, and Lupul's not UFA until 2013-14, we're missing a big opportunity to trade him now while his value's at his highest. Can't see that guy sitting a whole season (or playing in Europe) and coming back even better; maybe, I don't know, but I still think there's a lot of rock n' roll livin' in Lupul still.

One benefit of a lockout is that I think all our young guys are eligible to play on the Marlies, so another development season (and opportunity to gel) for guys like Colborne, Kadri, Gardiner, Ashton, Holzer, etc. would be at least a silver lining.

If they pull off a Calder, even better. I know alot of guys don't give credit for that kind of thing, but a championship is a championship: Memorial Cups matter, World Jr Championships matter, why wouldn't a Calder matter?

Wow. Congrats! Yeah, I would suspect that they'll always sell out -- and hopefully to fans more than corporate -- but a long losing streak and a pending lockout does wonders for ticket availability.
