Power forwards are notorious for major declines around age 32-35... and signing him right after a career year almost assures that he's snagged himself a healthy raise. Have to see the terms first, but a 3-4 year deal would have been ideal.

That's all I was trying to say. Your not allowed to question the Flyers around here, I should know better.

Not really complaining just saying I didn't like the length of the deal. Just my personal opinion. Thanks.

If it's 6 years at the max cap hit, you will have a faction lauding it as a stellar move.

6 years is a bit too long for my liking. I'm guessing the cap hit is in the 5.5 range, wouldn't be shocked if it were close to 6 million.

Would not be surprised if his cap hit was over 5 trillion.

Also hearing rumors that Homer is thinking about Giroux for Jbobo straight up.

True, this site is nothing more than an extension of Snider's orange colored glasses.

Yes exactly, Shane Doan is 35. Just because a power forward is north of 30 doesn't mean he will fall off the face of the earth. I'd say Hartnell breaks the 20 goal mark 4 of those six years.
- JoeRussomanno

So is Iginla...

Why do Flyer fans always have to look at the nagtive part instead of thje positive part? MOST, not ALL. I guess we'll see. But atm I like it.

I can put on my Briere cap if you'd like, but with the passing of his mother that is beneath me today.

I'm hearing the cap hit for Hartnell is $5.5 million per, so if my math is right, that would make it a $33 million deal. #Flyers

It might turn out to be basically a 4-year deal, if the last two seasons are throw-aways to lessen the cap hit.

Have to see the terms of the deal, but having 2 extra years at lower actual salary to reduce the AAV has some advantages. Teams lookg to hit the floor might covet a player with $5.5 AAV but an actual salary of $2-$3. Like Viz.

If you look at the other PWF's in their prime they will be making right around thast much. Iggy is making 7M when he's 37 I believe. Doan will make atleast 5.5M.

I wouldve liked it to be lower, but thats what a 65-70P, 35+G costs you nowadays.

Be sure to stretch properly before patting yourself on the back. Wouldn't want you stuck behind the desk any longer

Considering Voracek and Simmonds got 4.25 and 4 respectively, Hartnell is basically being compensated fairly. He's scored 20+ in 6 of his last 7 seasons and had 37 last year. I don't think 5.5 is a gross overpayment.

6 more years of Hartnell on the flyers, I am sure the pens fans are happy...would have loved Hartnell making the flyers pick at the draft in Pitts
