OK let me make this clear

REAL NHL - Elias has always been the better player vs Paul Statsny, however i would not take Elias at his current age over Statsny for my team

NHL VIDEO GAME - I would Take statsny over Elias everytime, he feels faster, he's good on draws, he hits harder etc..... the end its got nothing to do with Elias and the trap Devils of the 90s etc.....separate video game from real life ppl no team would take Elias currently in a straight up trade
for Paul Statsny <-- FACT! (the game tries to apply this concept)

also they def dont play the same position and if i gotta choose with Elias playing center i'll once again take Statsny any day (like most GMs)

sorry if it hurts your feelings i'm not trying to disrespect Elias if u put em next to each other at 23 years old Statsny doesnt stand a chance if Statsny was Elias' age right now he also wouldnt stand a chance (because i doubt he'll be putting up these numbers Elias has at such an age)....thats that

The rating system has always been a joke, I wish it was as good as Madden's. Would it be so hard to assign one person to each team who is familiar with the entire roster
- Nucker101

Yes, it would mean that they would need more than 3 guys doing the rating system.

yeah im well aware that Statsny is the better player in NHL video games currently, im also aware that offensively Elias has been the better player career wise, do you need more detail?
- Habitants98

Im pretty sure you were not referring to NHL 12 with that post. Also, Elias is the much better defensive player.

With the amount of money they make and put into the game, it shouldn't be that difficult to get the input of a beat writer or someone else who is intelligent and close to a specific team.

That's not the point and you literally cannot understand it. Elias is still better than Statsny but has less trade value because of his age. No, Elias is not bad because he's old. Nobody is saying you could trade Elias for Statsny; you invented this, ergo my post about your flawed logic (strawman logical fallacy). Jesus Christ, get with the program.

the game takes into account age tho, if you've played it long enough you realize this i was trying to make that point

personally i dont think the current Elias is better than the current Statsny (in the real NHL) nor do they really compare since they dont really play the same position anyways but i guess thats jus my opinion and u'll have to live with that

I don't think the Devils would. Elias is a lifer.

And this has nothing to do with the argument. As of right now, Elias is the better player. I wouldnt trade larsson straight up for Bieksa. Does that mean Larsson is better right now?

no thats a good point (glad to see some ppl can make their point minus insults tho)

but meh i dunno imo Statsny's better right now he's had a couple of rough 2 years after his injuries but this is still a guy with 3 70 point seasons in his first 5 and he's a well rounded Center, i'm not really sure they really compare much anyways but meh i wasnt the one who made the comparison to start with but i stick to the point that i think he's better right now

because i dont make the game and its very inconsistent how's that?...or u could write a long detailed essay to EA to ask em about it

when i say the game TRIES to take into account age i mean the stats you dont see, like how players with the same speed rating dont feel like they have the same speed because one is 37 and the other is 22....

Your all female doging about a revamped ranking system in a game where they immediately release an update with all new rankings and updated rosters days after the game is released.

2 of those 70 point seasons were in some of the highest scoring seasons. Their was a post lockout adjustment that allowed for a bunch of skewed stats, and a bunch of players never even came close to putting up similar numbers. Cheechoo, Gionta, Prucha, Stoll, etc. As of recent, Stastny has had trouble getting over the 60 point mark. Elias has been a consistent offensive producer while going up against much tougher competition. I struggle to find any basis that Stastny is better now.

do you watch Avs games? or is this a bias sentiment? cuz ur also in a blog about a game you apparently dont even play......so im not sure what to say there anyways look im over the Statsny vs Elias debate because i'd take em both at each of their natural position, i've already stated my opinion and thats that, i'm entitled to that, i used to pick elias in my pools all the time so im aware of how good and consistent he is, that being said if u need a center you arent gonna go for elias (who doesnt play that position) that alone should end the debate....back to the game and its inconsistent ratings

Contrary to popular belief opinions can be wrong. Yeah, you're entitled to have them but it's not some kind of "let's leave it at that" thing.

Do you watch devils games? Care to tell me what position elias played last season? And I don't watch a whole lot of avs games. But the few I do, I am not blown away with Stastny as a shutdown center like Elias. That's also with Stastny going up against much lower quality of competition. Stastny also logged all of 37 seconds a game of PK time. Elias logged 1:46 on the best PK in league history.
