The #Sabres on the other hand maintain contact with #Oilers re Gagner. Very interested in landing him if the price isn't too high.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

- evatnorth

oilers need help on the back end

I could see this happen if the kids are not ready or if a deal is in place to trade ennis

disagree

I think we would get picks back in that trade and without the almighty one in net, Ruff might play enroth 35 games and crawford 45 games and the team might play better all around hockey

I think a trade like that makes us faster, younger and in many ways better

I agree with you. I have no problem trading Miller because after this season, which may not even be a full season due to a lockout, next year will be his last. Miller is not going to live away from his wife for another few years if he can help it, in my opinion so the Sabres will only have Miller for one full season until he's a FA. Deal him for a young talented player if they can. It seems that the goalie market is weak this season though, so why would Chicago deal a former 1st overall pick for a 32 year old goalie? I guess if Kane has pissed them off so much because he's a malcontent, then that's why.

we all know I am not a Miller fan, part of it is he never seems to win the big game. Part of it is he always seems to pout when on the bench and is not one of the first to congratulate enroth when he wins. One thing I will never forget about Biron, first one on the ice to congratulate the goalie when he was on the bench and even when pulled he kept his head up and encouraged the team. Throw in being made when a player is traded and pouting when Enroth plays great vs the flames and gets the start vs the sens the next night, and wins.

Miller comes across more as a selfish person then a team player. I am sure he will be focused from Sept 2013 to the olympics though, something he has a hard time doing in non olympic years

Well that team made neimi a stanley cup winning goalie... And all they could do was make crawford average... What does that mean crawford would become with buffalo...?

Crawford has met his ceiling and he is a 2.5 gaa and .910ish goalie.... Millers ceiling is a vezina and 2.2 gaa...

We will be 1000x better with miller in net and not party boy kane who makes roy seem mormon... Chicago has tried to play kane at center and he has failed... He would be like vanek... Under produces because he finally getd s top line minutes and cant top 75 pts..

Crawford is still horrible and would be in rehab playing for Lindy.

If the Sabres trade Sekera, their D is going to be mediocre or worse. I mentioned earlier after Myers and Ehrhoff, there will be a talent dropoff to Leopold and then McNabb, a rookie. Then there is a huge dropoff in talent. Crawford would get lit up with that type of D. The Sabres had better outscore their opponents like the French Connection days, or the Briere/Drury era because if not, they are screwed with Crawford playing behind that D.

I still think they need to upgrade the D

one steady minute eater like Gilbert for the wild

I do not see any free agents that would improve the team, Yandle would be a great addition for the Peggy era if he really is out on the market

I know this is the same as yesterday's post, but one of the comments that bothers me is the comment where Garth states he would pay Ennis 6+ for 2 yrs. That is the business thinking that have the Sabres in hot water with overpaid players. Don't get me wrong, Ennis is talented, but to put him in the same category as other 6 mil guys? Puhhhhhleeeeeze. A realistic salary would be in the 3 mil range for 2 years. He is no Skinner.

I didn't read Garth's blog but if he said Ennis should get 6 million for two years that means 3 million a year.

Not much to report, so likely a trade will be announced on Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

YEAH, maybe this all BS, but what the heck......I will let all of you tear these options apart.

Gagner has been mentioned a lot since the trade deadline...he played with Kane in junior so there could be something to trying to get Kane here as well.

For some reason folks I talk to think that some combination of Regher, Sekera, Enroth, Persson and Grigorenko or Adam and even MCCabe are in play to Edmonton, which suggests a fairly large trade would be made with Edmonton not with Chicago.

The combination of guys mentioned coming from Edmonton include Taylor Hall, Sam Gagner, Horcoff, Khabibulin and Whitney.......Don't interpret this incorrectly....I am not saying all these guys get traded for each other.....it could be a one for one deal between the teams.....like Gagner for Sekera; or Regher for Horcoff; or Whitney for Leopold; A bigger deal would be Grigorenko, Adam and Pysyk/McCabe for Hall.....anyone make that trade?

The Bobby Ryan trade only happens if Ennis and Pysyk are going there and the standing offer seems to have been Adam, Brennan and a pick......so that has not gone anywhere.

Maybe Khabibulin comes to Buffalo and goes right on to Chicago as part of another deal, but I doubt it.

Also hearing Columbus and Buffalo have spoken about trading a center for a defenseman...no details.

theres a gut on twitter name "sabres front office"

hes been saying Gagner + 3rd for Leo / sekere + adam how does that sound??

and this guy on twitter said basically gagner would be brought in to replace ennis as 2nd line center.

Then trade ennis ++ for bobby Ryan

what are your thoughts?

Anyone else think it a tad odd that our Darcy would drop 5 years of hatred for Kevin Lowe and make a deal with the guy who gave Vanek the big bucks.... all for Sam Gagner?

Gagner is a fine player, but I'm sure we could find another player of similar talents that wouldn't require Darcy to have to speak with Edmonton.

I mean if word came down from on high (Pegula) that the big guy wanted Hall or one of the other young studs, then I can see Darcy sucking it up and doing the deal.

As you may have noticed, Darcy is a "bit" stubborn (Viva La Core, not throwing Ennis into the BRyan trade, holding out for a first with Goose, among others).

To me, making the deal with Lowe would not be in Darcy's comfort zone.

I think time has likely healed that wound. If the deal makes sense for the team, im sure hell do it no matter the team

As for the actual rumor, its the 1 rumor these mongers toss out that I can see happening. Darcy loves former 1st rounders and they need to move a d-man. this one seems legit on the surface
