as well, this isn't about revenue sharing anyway, this is about finding ways to cut checks for the shi@ teams, yet not having the checks come from the big boys checkbooks, this negotiation was supposed to be easier witha framework already established, yet, it's already just as ugly & threatening as 2004.

Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Phoenix and New Jersey need to go. They're bringing the NHL down.
- Tony Montana

Nashville has potential and the Islanders have too much history. Columbus also needs to go.
- Tony Montana

OK, so you're down to 23 teams. I'll strike another team just to make it even; let's whack Anaheim [or Colorado, but the Ducks are in the same market as L.A.]. Now you're at 22 teams. Congrats - your solution has just moved the cap up another $3.5 million above where it is now.

St. Louis and Nashville are put squarely on thin ice as a result [as are the Islanders]; Colorado may be as well. Buffalo is worse off [though we'll say Pegula continues to spend like there's no tomorrow]. Washington is worse off [though they have Leonsis; see Buffalo].

The next two teams up? The San Jose Sharks and the Edmonton Oilers, who would now be spending almost 57% of revenues just to hit the cap floor. Ottawa is the next team up; whacking any of the other low-revenue teams forces them to spend over 57% of revenues just to hit the floor.

See if you can figure out why eliminating all the low-revenue "undesirables" actually makes things even worse for the rest of the low-revenue teams that remain and puts teams who were formerly OK into trouble.

I always thought NHL teams in Europe was a joke, but looking at your divisions and Cities, I actually like it. Sure the players would complain about travel, but it would not be much more than traveling east to west in NA. Also, if you get paid millions/ year your complaints should be minimal. I agree, with those teams (and the US money suckers gone) there would be alot of money made and huge increase in fans. The biggest problem I see is the time difference, as the Olympics just showed us. Can you imagine the London SillyNannies in the Stanley cup finals and games comming on at 9 or 10 am?

No, Cloutier.

I think you are off your meds again. However, I'll play along, I guess.

Why would you name a division of all European teams "Lemieux"? That's atrocious, and a slap in the face to the European faction of your new NHL. Shouldn't a European division be named for a prominent European hockey player?

Yes. Yes, it should.

If we're all completely going off our meds purposefully then, how about the Kurri division?

Your Oiler faithful are going to lynch you for that glaring omission.

I can agree with 32 teams. However I am thankful this guy doesnt write for the leafs. He should be writing childrens books with how he words everything with Fred Penner like enthusiasm. And two: how were "The Mighty Ducks Of Anaheim" better then the "Anaheim Ducks" when they won the cup 06/07 and I think they won their division that year too. I think Richard (aka Robert Munch) just misses good old Disney.

Borje Salming Division

I don't object to that. As a hockey fan living in Buffalo, I saw a ton of Leaf games on HNIC, CTV, etc.

And Borje Salming?

(Ian Turnbull, too)

However, even though Borje came first, Kurri had a bigger impact, IMO.

I agree, lol. But Borje started almost ten years before Jari. Plus Jari accumulated more points cause he played on much better teams throughout his career. Remember the leafs were not that great in the 80's at all.

Either guy is a good choice.

But, since this is a moot point, maybe we could just blow up Bettman instead, before he starts putting more NHL teams where they don't belong. How long before there's a team in Mexico City or Costa Rica or the friggin southern tip of the Baja Peninsula for cripes sake?

lol i was going along with this until you said this

"Let's eliminate the rosters from all 30 current teams, throw in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft players, and have one big, massive, complete, redrafting of the entire NHL"

so then ur creating a 5 year lockout because you didnt put into consideration that players are signed for long term in one city for many reasons.....of course the whole concept is....well.......

You missed Nashville and the Islanders.
- Maxbone

Both those teams should stay... Nashville has successfully grown a good base in a market they shouldn't have survived in. Dallas, Tampa, Carolina and Columbus have good potential as markets... Florida and Phoenix and New Jersey should move. Canada deserves more teams... but not sure if the players would be thrilled with having to live in, say, quebec, as opposed to socal, or south east us.

This makes no sense Clouts. We have enough teams in the league already that suck, can't make any money, and are leeching off of other teams in the league. I would be more in favour of reducing the league to 28 or even 26 teams. If we could remove 4 terrible market teams from the league (let's say Columbus, Florida, Phoenix, and the Islanders) the league would be a lot more exciting. Also, this revenue sharing bullpoop would matter a lot less.
- SteveTambellini

Add Nashville and Dallas too! Go with 24 teams and now we have a kick-a$$ league!
