Ya, didn't Burke say big changes were coming??
- Hockey_Reverend

Other GM's have figured him out. Hes says a lot of poop. Mostly false. Hes perfect for the Leafs. Stubborn, lies to fans, okay with mediocracy. Im totally on the waffle wagon this year. I say we pelt every leaf with waffles as soon as they come out on the ice.. Whats wrong with you people? Im not taking this anymore. I demand better dammit

This is off topic but WTF BURKE!! You've done NOTHING to improve the Leafs this summer. Ur a bum. You are a terrible judge of talent in today's NHL. I say we bring in Anthopolous.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

AA and Burke are alike.

Strong out of the gate, and they're quickly slowing down.

I still have faith in Burke though.

I got more faith in AA.. He's brought more pieces to the jays in a shorter amount of time.. Not to mention possibly the best player in the game.

You can't blame that on Alex.. Injuries killed them this year.. If they were healthy all year then they would be in the wildcard. You gotta remember, jays are in the hardest division in all of sports.

I doubt thats true.....they may be 2 games over .500....the pitching staff is complete crap, they need at least 3 new starters.
At the beginning of the season, most people had them pegged to finish a couple games over .500.
Their unwillingness to spend on FA's will sink this team.

Im sure they wont be a worldwide shortage of waffles.. maybe in the GTA tho. Leafs need to be sent a message, and the loudest message sent was the waffles incident.

That didn't send any message...except that the thrower was an idiot.
If the fans really want to send a message.....dont show up for games.

They are waiting for the right time to spend. Bautista tried get them to bring more talent when they were dropping like flys, but AA said it wasn't time and i happen to agree with him. Jays need to be strategic to be successful.

agree

the jays have been stalled at .500 for the last couple of seasons, as you said their unwillingness to spend money on FA's has been holding them back. I'm sick of hearing about next year, every year. Does AA realize that he can sign FA's to deals longer than one year? If he feels like the jays are so close to greatness then why not make that extra push and sign someone when they have the chance.

Top FA's don't come around every year and the deals guys are signing tend to be long term, so in reality you only have a one time chance to sign guys like Fielder. Not saying he wanted to play for the jays or not, but at least take a shot at him and others.

No team in Toronto can attract top talent.. It pathetic. Its such a losing culture. At least the Jays look like they might have some hope in the future.

I don't think it matters that much about the city. Top team will always attract top talent, just look at the championship teams of the early 90's. Tons of great players and HOFers were playing for the Jays.

It's hard to sell top players on the "wait until next year" philosophy the jays organization and media have been spewing for years.
