3 lockouts and a work stoppage in the 20 years of power
I think you know the answer - CaptPantalones
I'm not pro or anti Bettman but let's not pretend that the last lockout wasn't great for the sport in hinsight. It sucked out loud during that year with no hockey but opening up the game from clutch and grab and instituting a salary cap was worth it IMO.
However since that stuff has already been straightened out, this lockout would be nothing but a bad thing. |

My money is on Tiger getting some of his old swag back because of this "rivalry". Can't hurt him. |

it helped in terms of quality of play, but since the league has already let it revert back to what it was before, its pretty ought for none here.
If they lose a good portion of this year, I could really see a market or 2 struggling enough that relocation and/or contraction could be on the table |

It might have regressed but watch the 2003-2004 Final again and you will see its still not even close to what it was then. |

Weird to have so much fall golf to look forward too. Ryder Cup and now this 1 on 1 match.
Sometimes the Fed Ex Cup stuff can be intriguing. |

I have degenerative discs in my neck and bone spurs in the shoulder and if Morrow has any kind of neck problems and such, I want no part of him. Let the Stars pay him for his final year. |

Bettman is a problem - no doubt about it. That said, he is doing the bidding of a majority of owners who need to change the economics of the game.
The bottom line is that NHL players have no business whatsoever making virtually the same dollars, if not more, than NFL players, MLB players or NBA players. The NHL does not generate the same revenues those leagues do and probably never will. Were it not for the resurgence of the Canadian dollar relative to the American dollar, the league would have only a couple teams in the black - and there is no guarantee that the Canadian dollar will always be equal to the American dollar.
If the players association wants to have a league of 30 teams to provide jobs for them then they are going to be at the mercy of Bettman and the owners, Donald Fehr notwithstanding.
This is going to get ugly and eventually Bettman and the owners will prevail even if it means the loss of yet another season. - Losman
The NBA non-salary expenses are a lot less than the NHL too. They not only pull in more revenue, but they are more profitable. |

Definitely, when RIT went Div 1 it was awesome. I have gone to more of their games than the Amerks. |

"Like fellow RFAs Tyler Ennis, Ryan O'Reilly, PK Subban, Michael Del Zotto, and more, Dallas stud forward Jamie Benn is working out and waiting for his cell phone to ring"
Im sure gm's are waiting for this cba mess to get sorted out before they throw big money at these players. Maybe i'm wrong. |
