- First off, Josi is likely to get the first try pairing with Weber.

- Secondly, when in the Sam hell is Blum going to sign or be traded? He'd be a good target for Philly to go after.

- Thirdly, when, if ever, is Wilson going to break through? I'd love him as a buy-low option for a potential 2C or 3C.

- Finally, to answer your question, it's all in the magic of Trotz!

... I love Erat.

Thats funny, I actually had him there to begin with! But when I remembered how good Klein was in the playoffs, I changed my mind. Blum isn't signed but I agree he'll be pushing Ellis for a spot. I don't see the Preds often but when I do Erat seems to be by far their best forward.

He's a liability at ES unless he's playing sheltered, third-pairing minutes. Only effective on the PK.

He's a five-to-seven depth guy.

Are you talking about Hannan?
I'm trying to figure out why he wouldn't command a raise from $1M if many teams are still looking for D.

He obviously wasn't getting many offers. Its mid-August and the CBA is set to expire in less than a month. I think he'll take the million bucks from a pretty competitive team, plus he's gonna get top 4 minutes

I highly doubt fans will turn on iggy. Its a bourque like scenario.

Flames fans will be saying that Iginla wasn't that good and that his leadership skills sucked once he's traded from Calgary.

Bouwmeester will also become the the next scapegoat and whipping boy as soon as he leaves as we are seeing with Phaneuf according to Flames fans... It's par for the course. I'm glad they're happy the Stajan though!

Not to worry Calgary because Jankowski "will be the best player from the 2012 draft in 10 ten years"

I guess that's better than being July 1 and taking the millions bucks (brad boyes) from a pretty non-competitive team (NY Islanders), plus he's gonna get PP minutes.

Both Hannan and Boyes are similar in that they both used to make $4M or more a year.

Flyers should try and pick up T.J. Brodie from the Flames. Still a project, and an offensive dman that could help out on the PP and also play decent minutes.

Yeah, Klein was very impressive in the playoffs, but I think that may be the same reason they play him with a stay-at-home type guy. Spread the wealth and maybe allow him to open up his game with Gill or Hannan backing up any mistakes he makes. Josi is likely the closest guy to Suter in both size, and style of play so playing him with Weber, for at least a short time, would make sense.

While both Ellis and Blum have looked good in their respective first stints, another guy to look for is Mattias Ekholm. He was sent back to the SEL last season after a solid stint in the bigs and could be a dark horse to break the line-up. Hopefully he's improved his defensive game!

Looks good. But I highly doubt we could get him outta Calgary without losing young roster players. I think Philly's reasoning would be to see what they currently have in Bourdon, Gustafsson and Manning who are looking to make the NHL jump, before trying to grab another prospect. What we need is Veteran presence, which would be the main reason we would have been interested in Hannan. But thanks, I definitely want to keep my eye on Brodie now.

What are Flames fans thoughts on John Gaudreau. He is a local kid (Southern NJ). I went to college with his older sister. He had a monster year with BC. Is he getting any love up there?

lots of talk about him...looked great at the prospect camp a few weeks back. Looks like an absolute steal but he wasn't ranked high by TSN so it was obviously a bad pick by the Flames lol

So..... hearing this today, I no longer see an NHL season period....

At least 8, possibly 9 teams lost 20 million dollars last year alone. (Some more)

This is hidden by the Candian teams profit and those few USA teams that make profit as well.

The worst months are Oct to Dec when the NHL is going up against other NFL and others.

It is estimated that the teams that lost 20 million... will only lose 10 million if THERE IS NO SEASON.

They have no imputus to settle a deal but rather hold off the season.

I also see the WINTER CLASSIC as nothing more than an emotional chip to be played. The NHL will play it close to the heart-strings and make the NHLPA look bad.

In truth, the NHL can cancel the game up to 24 hours prior and only lose 100,000.

And there is nothing to saw the game will not be played the following year.

Anyways...............

No Season.

Detroit doesn't need help on D:
Krons-Smith
White-Ericsson
Quincey-Kindl

The only "weak" spot of the 6 is Kindl. I say we see how he plays up until the trade deadline, and if he flops, make a move. If not, then we save having to give up a bunch for Jay Bo.
