Ok as a Friday talking point... Who would make the worst Captain?

I guess my pick is to easy - Bryz (Language/culture barrier, Jokers never make a good Captain, He's off the wall, and he's a goalie)...

Worst past captain? Bill's link has his rankings... I don't necessarily agree on all fronts. I'm not a fan of Richards captaincy (his first year was good during good times, with a tiny bit of adversity he made it worse during the last year). I don't know if I'd rank Forsberg as low - it was more of a health issue than being a poor captain. And, I think I'd rank Desjardin higher - because of the situation he was put into - I think it could have been worse with a poor captain.

Bryz's English is better than Rinaldo's.

(can someone pls double-check my apostrophe usage?)

My choice is one of Timonen, Briere, Talbot, Giroux, Hartnell, or who ever. Doesn't matter to me. I think the whole Captain factor is overrated anyway.

In 3-4 years from now who would be your choice? Cooter, B Schenn, Simmons? Alot of young guys who have leadership qualities.

Again, it really doesn't matter to me. I don't have a preference.

Loved reading the blog about the captain's rankings from a year ago and
the comments that followed.. Lots of swings and misses in some of those comments. Others were dead on.

Don't know. It's pretty early in their careers. I will say what I said last summer. watching and reading interviews with potential rookies. That Matt Read sounds like a Captain. With the way Homer trades players I don't know if he'd be here that long. But I said it before, I think he will be a captain at some point in his NHL career. He says the right things and He has been a captain earlier in his career. He's going to be a very good young leader.

I rather see G just be the all world player he is turning into. I think he does a real good job with the media but i wouldnt want him to have to deal with the media when the team is in a rough spot. Schenn has it big time. Love his game and attitude.

Yeah and Giroux is a great orator. When I read his quotes I immediatly thought captain. Very team first, very humble, doesn't get ahead of himself, and always deflects any compliments onto his teamates. Even when he's competeing with them for a spot on the team.

For dealing with the media you can't do much better then Briere.
Kimo would be the best captain for all around.
I love Talbot too but him and Hartnell and G are good choices for an A.

With this team, I think the C is an honorary title that brings more problems than it grants powers. Some teams need a leadership direction, but the Flyer's one is clearly defined. I'm honestly only half-kidding about leaving it with Pronger. Simply have 3 A's and keep the responsibility as a group rather than a single player. It is not unheard of, Florida did that last year and it worked pretty well for them.

i like max a lot but timonen has been a leader on the team for years, it would seem really weird to me if he were chosen over kt

i say kimmo cuz it'd be a perfect 1 year stopgap.. with the hopes g will be ready for it

if you give it to talbot thats 4 more years G would have to wait. (which actually might be a good thing, but who knows)
