Thinking outside the box tonight are we folks.. obviously id trade tj over them.. i might how ever keep tj over weber? Thoughts?
Sekera to me... Is not good in his own zone.. where i think leo is better... And i dont think sekera is better offensively by enough to offset the defensive liability or make up for a vet on this team.
As far as a ufa dman next year... NSHs Klein.. love the guy! Big and physical.. blocks shots like a wall.. and is relatively cheap right now. - JVince11

Playing 20 or so games at center with some success isnt going to give Ennis enough leverage as an RFA to ask for anything in the 3M range. If the Sabres end up giving it to him then they obviously feel very strongly about his potential.
It would probably be wise for both sides if the deal did not surpass 2 years and the term was closer to 2M than 3M. If Ennis continues to improve, he will get a nice new contract in the short term future. If he doesn't improve, then the Sabres arent overpaying. - Gunner Staal
I honestly think thay what we saw in 20 games last year was a very nice flash in the pan.. i do not think he could sustain that for a whole year as teams would change their lines up.
I think darcy is doing the right thing in trying to strike while the iron is hot.
If anaheim supposedly values ennis like multiple rumors twitter and even homer says they do... Then we are being very smart.

I have seen enough of Weber - cabin
Agreed.. he is physical and actually had like top 5 hits on the team in only 40 or so games but im sure with how much he sacrifices for a hit and plays out of position that Miller just shudders when his skates hit the ice

Actually, Weber is one of the only guys on the team that keeps people out of Miller's way out there, so I bet he doesn't mind him as much as you'd think.
Weber has shown flashes of being a solid stay at home guy. He's also shown flashes of being a complete trainwreck. At some point, he'll get some sort of consistency. I think part of the problem is the inconsistent amount of play he's gotten.
Plus, can you really hate a guy that facewashes Crosby?

This NHLPA counter-offer is interesting, and clever. The more I hear the details, the more I think Donald Fehr is after 1 of 2 things. The first is that this is a PR move. This is a sign that the Union is going to bargain in good faith. If the owners don't take the deal, or at least move in that direction with concessions, they are painted as the undisputed villains. My only question is whether or not there are a few "landmines" that aren't public knowledge placed in the proposal that the NHLPA knows the owners won't go for, and can use it as a public spin to get what they want when and if the owners say "no way".
The second angle, the one I think Fehr is leaning towards is that he's not trying to "win" this CBA, but has his sights on the next one. In 2005, the players were backed into a corner, and (thankfully) basically had the deal shoved down their throat. They had very little bargaining power and they knew it. This time around, they have some more leverage, but not quite enough. The league is still growing, and the players aren't miserable where they stand now. My guess is that they predict that the league will continue to grow. If a deal is reached here in 2012 which the players concede to most of what the owners want again, they have the leverage in the next CBA in and around 2018 or so, to say "look, we conceded in 2005, and we accepted the status quo in 2012, now it's our turn to make some major changes", and they'll probably get the public support, and it will be the owners that are backed into a corner by public opinion.

Drew Stafford and I went to the same hs 2 or so years apart.. i was not a hockey fan growing up until i got to college... Then my now wifes little brother got me into hockey big time.. i didnt really have a fav team so i would be buffalo in video games cuz of stafford against him... And through this i actually got hooked on liking afinogenov alot... And the rest is history.
I actually dont like drew.. he was always kind of an arrogant pr1ck..

I have to agree. When the Sabres came to DC to crush the caps late last season, they practiced at the hockey rink like 2 minutes from my house in Reston. Went over there to see them and as they walked by on their way in. I grew the balls to say hey some of them. Weber and Vanek were very nice and actually responded with words. Staff gave me the stink eye. pfft whatevs BRO! but yeah did kinda bum me out..
