He was probally thinking "Better trade for sam Gagner, and buy Grigs some time in juniors...

And after Hodgson failed to light up rookie canp, it's probally not a bad idea... Especially considering Ennis's history of injuries.

I don't know, Cat. The day I went to rookie camp, Hodgson looked incredible

#Oilers close to trading Gagner +3rd to #Sabres for Sekera & Adam. Also possible Leopold instead of Sekera. Expect deal done within a week.

- sabresfandan

I honestly LOVE this idea...

Sekera is an expensive 5-6 d-man, Leopold is a renta player, and Adam won't ever even make the NHL saqud behind Ennis, Hodgson, Grigorenko, and Gigensons.

Talk about something for nothing!!!

I hope Ennis doesn't think he's worth 4 mill a yr because he's not even close to that.

I think the Gagner trade makes perfect sense, we have the extra d-men to move and Adam has fallen down in the organization IMO

In drills? He hardly dominated the scrimmage, and this was amongst rookies and prospects.

I agree 89 if he wants anything more than 3.5 per, I'd move him and I'm an Ennis fan.

Agreed.

Kinda feel bad for Adam. He's kind of in limbo right now.

Gagne 3.2 mill and a RFA after this year, Hodgson 1.6 mill and a RFA after this year. I guess Hodgson has 1 year to prove himself we get Gagne.

I was there on the Monday, and I thought he was the best in his group. Just my opinion.

Trade sekera before leopold!!!!

Someone mentioned that leo loves clarence for his family and doesnt want to move.

I think we could resign leo after this year at 2 year 6m total. Let regehr walk.

- JVince11

Let Regher walk? At least he's about the "best case scenario" for a rent-a-player...

Not sure if you have a NTC, but I'm sure he could be convinced if he were going to a top teir contender.

I wouldn't even give him 3.5 but that's just me. Seems like 3 or so is the going price.

I think Hodgson will have a really nice season this year and for many seasons to come. I really like the fact that he went to Gary Robert's camp too

I expect 50-60 points. And while that will be pointed out to be sub-par for a number 1 center, the kid is just entering his 2nd full year. He will be the No. 1 center by default, not because he should be yet.

And I know some on here make fun of the fact that he went to Roberts' camp, but give the kid credit for working his arse off this summer to try and be the best hockey player that he can possibly be. The Sabres hopefully will reap the rewards.

We have a lot of defensive numbers at the moment...

But is anyone really thrilled with a D-corps of;

Myers/McNabb
Erhoff/Sulter
Webber/Sekera

...after Regher and Leopold move on, that's what we're looking at. Not bad, but not great.

i like adam but he really doesn't have a spot in the lineup. 3rd line center??? doubt it. left winger??? maybe but highly doubtful.

I think Pysyk will rocket up and be ready sooner than later. But, anyway, I would expect Buffalo to go out and get a veteran dman.

Honestly, if we're talking about putting your best offensive C on your top line to maximize the production of Vanek and Pommer...

You'd be better off putting Ennis between those two.

I just can't see 50-60 points from Hodgson, just don't think he has it in him but i've been wrong before.

what's there to make fun of? Cody's at the same camp where players like Steve Stamkos, Jeff Skinner (i think) and Wojtek Wolski are training. if it's good enough for them, why shouldn't he be able to pick up something from it?

Agreed... At least not yet.

And it's hard to belive that Lindy would have a ton of faith in him after last season's showing.

I bet Lindy has a better repitore with Leino at this point.
