i'm not sure what this eve has planned for me.. might be relax with a book (i hope) or.. move gear into a buddies place.. and solder the positive that came off the jack on my bass (which isnt bad)

why, if they arent close (potentially), would they be meeting today?

Because its only a counter proposal....and right now they are on amicable terms.
What do you expect them not to ever meet again?
Its just part of the process right now....both are trying to stay open minded and reasonable...at least in the public eye.
They also have a deadline, which I'm sure neither side wants to wait to get to before continuing talks.
But saying they are close based on the fact that they are meeting to discuss the PA's counter proposal isn't the conclusion one should draw just yet.
They could be close....but this meeting is in no way a statement to that.

no, i would expect them to take a week and come up with a completely different counter proposal if they were that far apart..

to me, the fact that they are meeting again today shows that the owners are willing to work with the current proposal IF they are allowed to make some tweaks to it.

now, the severity of those tweaks is an unknown.. could be a few minor adjustments .. additions or deletions.. the whole thing is the players are willing to maintain the cap.. and they are finding a way for the teams to be able to ice competitive teams while saving them money.. which are the sticking points for the owners

if anything hangs it up it will be the over max. contract lengths and player UFA availability imo
