I don't think you'll see many that ACTUALLY want there to bo no hockey for the draft reason. It's just one of those "Look on the bright side" kind of things that people are coming to terms with.

Cloutier just wrote a blog on No Season.

I personally hope for no lockout. If there is one , then I hope the league disbands and a new 12 to 16 team league starts up with financially stable owners SANS BETTMAN

I know you're just justifying some other dudes logic, but the chance of landing the first overall isn't really that great. Someone posted a list of who has what chance in another blog, Toronto gets 3 tickets to the dance, but that's 3 out of what, like 50? I get that it is a better chance than teams like Canucks etc, but there are no guarantees that they even draft in the top 10.

Totally.

You can appreciate the sheer desperation Leafs fans have to have a player worth being pumped about.

All joking aside they have a better shot getting the 1st overall playing out the season with their current roster

I think a lot is riding on the performances of Kessel, Lupul, Grabovski, and JVR. The leaf's defense (pairings and overall team defense) and goaltending are weak areas but they might be able to outscore their problems.

Saying that, looking at their current lineup, you are not totally wrong:

Mikhail Grabovski
Phil Kessel
Tim Connolly
Joffrey Lupul
James van Riemsdyk
Matthew Lombardi
Clarke MacArthur
Nikolai Kulemin
Tyler Bozak
Jay McClement
David Steckel
Matt Frattin

Dion Phaneuf
Michael Komisarek
John-Michael Liles
Carl Gunnarsson
Jake Gardiner
Korbinian Holzer

I think coaching and system is their wilcard. Their forwards basically to a man don't Bach check. Defense is bad in their end(see Dion and Liles)First off Carlyle has to get them to buy into a system. 2nd how much will the forwards stats suffer.

I like Gardiner, he has some shortcomings no doubt. But there's something to be optimistic about with him. I can see y they r excited. And it seems every young player the leafs deal, they develop into a solid player, so I can see y fans value him. He's exciting and can't be worse in his own end then Dion and Liles.

Yup I just wish we didn't have to hear about it as if he was the next Bobby Orr

Phaneuf sure flopped hard, his first 3 years he looked great... Then he just plain out sucked...

Liles just didn't look the same last year as he did in Colorado but of course that could be attributed to the surrounding cast of clowns in the circus he played for last year...

If Phanuef ever learned how to play hockey he would be a horse. Talented as anybody out there but dumb as a post. I like to refer to guys like Liles as equal opertunity defense an. When they make a play one of the 2 teams is gonna get a scoring chance directly off it

Didn't he get his bell rung pretty hard last year? Season ending concussion I think.

I don't know how you'd narrow it down.

First, all 7 Canadian teams
Then, Boston, Detroit, New York Rangers, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Washington (very likely).

Then, how do you justify booting the Stanley cup champions? Los Angeles is in.
Then, Carolina just handed out 102 million this summer in contract money. Minnesota just gave close to 200 million. Nasvhille has shelled out 172 million. It'd be tough to shut the door on a lot of teams, at this point.

You can't. That's why it will never happen. You might be able to disband 2 to 4 teams but to reduce the league by half would be impossible.

Halifax eh? That's my home town.

Another night at the palace,
'cause there is nothing else to do.
The same people, the same drinks
And the same music,
The same quicksand.
I think this harbor town is waist
Deep and sinking fast.

CHORUS:
Hello city, you've found
An enemy in me.
Hello city, hello city.

Second night at the warehouse,
And my mock turtleneck just reeks.
From the liquor room to the
Changeroom
To the doom and gloom

Of the hotel room,
I wish this seaside beerhall would
Sink into the bay.

CHORUS

Maybe I caught you at a bad time,
Maybe I should call you back next
Week,
Maybe half the fault was mine that
The sun didn't shine on Barrington
Street

It's three o'clock in the morning,
And I'm hungry so lets eat.
Climb down three flights to the
Streetlights
And the barfights, we're just taking
In the sights.
I hope tomorrow that I wake up in
My own bed.

CHORUS

"What a good place to be,
Don't believe them,
'Cause they speak a different
Language
And it's never been happy for me.
It's Happy Hour again."

Those contracts wouldn't be valid in another league so that isn't a concern

What I was saying is how do you tell a team that's just spent 200 million dollars to try to compete in the NHL that not only are they out of the league but also their contracts are void?
