Agreed leafs could even throw in Percy or Finn rather then the pick, if need be - Bieksa#3
ya that might work. Percy would be my choice to send. Then it's a known rather than an unknown too. Burke will get crucified for trading a 1st, even if it is protected...
EDIT: wait, you're still taking Connolly though |

Lu has a 89 rating in NHL 13. That should count for something. He is ranked in the top 7. - Bluechip23
for a back-up? that doesn't sound right |

let em ask you something, did you think the asking price of howson for Nash was ridiculous? If so, guess what, Luongo is the same situation, only with a worse contract. - Isles_since_6
his worse NHL season was last year: 36 points in 70 games. Half a point a game. That is solid for someone who isn't expected to play top 6 minutes. Maybe he isn't a guaranteed top 6 forward anymore but he is a solid 2nd/3rd liner and with Kesler looking like he will miss some time Connolly is a decent band-aid with only one year left on his deal. |

no he doesn't. Just a weird NTC. Still no way in hell Luongo is in the minors, but they could technically do it. - Big_Lightnin
Jackets would take him |

please check your facts before spouting off. He has a no trade. He can be waived - Bieksa#3
wait, a goalie that is so valuable he's worth 3-4 assets from the Leafs, but the Canucks would waive him if they can't get that? You make awesome sense.

disagree about the 1st, no one would care if we sent a 2nd rounder even if it is top 10 hell a 2nd and a 3rd is perfectly fine so a bottom 10 1st rounder isn't that much of a difference. Top 20 protect the pick and there is no issue, hell Percy is a former 25th overall much closer to the NHL then a bottom 10 pick next year. |

I meant in the media. And sure he would. Papers would just rake him for it - "Has he learned nothing from the Kessel deal."
Idiots don't know a damn thing - will talk about all these late picks that turned into Hall of Famers... blah blah blah.

Ian I am sure Gillis is not in his office thinking what bad contract he could take back would hurt the least.
If things ever did become desperate Gillis could trade for a 7 th rounder to CBJ or Fla . We are no where near that. You also forget if Gillis wanted to clear salary he has a very good friend and former client who is GM of Modo in Sweden that would love to have the loan of a number 1 goalie.
I realize dog days of summer but you deserve a kick in the nuts for suggesting Komi at 3 mil for 4 years. - VANTEL
You really think Lou would agree to go to Sweden?
He does have a NTC... |

At this point, I am hoping for a lockout. That way I don't have to read another thread of what Luongo is worth. It is always the same people arguing back and forth. Hahaha give it up! |

for negotiations purposes, yes, but in reality, it's really not. 6 yrs at $5.33 cap hit. No way he plays once his money drops to $3.3M, then below $2M.
it's a 6 yr contract. Hell if he doesn't retire the buyour is like $400K a year...

You want a First, a Prospect, and a good Roster player you trade Schneider and hope Lack develops well (He very well could too).
Schneider + Something of minimal value
First Rounder (14-21) + Mid Level Prospect (Potential Top 9 Foward, 3-5 Potential Defensman, 1B Goalie etc) + Roster Player (A physical Role Player with Offensive Upside, A Physical Sturdy Shutdown Defender with Grit)
For Schneider And Something (Future Considerations perhaps)

NTC wouldn't have any bearing on loaning a player though
that would be hilarious |

If van has to take your laughable offer of Lu, tanev and a 3rd for komi, bozak and a 2nd then yes they might as well wave him. I'm suggesting waivers is a better option then that pathetic offer. Okie dokie? |

Getting Creative with Lu and T.O. - IanEsplen
I'm no lawyer Ian, But I think this scenario is illegal under the current CBA. No way the NHL would allow this type of tampering ( and it is tampering, or Cap circumvention or what ever they may deem it) and I doubt the NHLPA would approve either.
Komi is under contract with Toronto and he and his agent are not allowed to have discussions like this with another team. Period. |

For schneider the canucks could get any of the young talent in Edmonton and probably more. Elite young goalies are the biggest commodity especially when signed to a low cap hit. I still can't believe schneider signed for so little.
