Why does Vancouver need to move their 3 rd best player from last year? So we can make Leafs happy?
- VANTEL
Exactly...why do they?
Oh yah, because he wants out of Van, because he gets the short end of the stick from Canuck fans who have now appointed Schneider as the #1 even though he has less career starts than Reimer. |

Well, I suppose we'll agree to disagree. Given their stature among NHL goalies, and the fact that Luongo asked for a trade, and the fact that Schneider is reportedly supplanting Luongo as a starter, I see it as having a comparatively higher potential to blow up. - Morris
Still believe Gillis when he says Luongo never asked for a trade.
Yes, agree to disagree. I see having 2 very good goalies as a better situation than having one very good goalie. Depth is a good thing. Agree to disagree. |

Remember last week, the Messier bashing, how he "ripped" the C of Linden's jersey etc etc?
I was thinking, it wasn't really that Messier ripped it off, Linden gave it willingly. He put aside his ego and everything that he had given to date to the organization to do what he felt was right, which was to help Messier, believed to be the greatest leader in professional sports, transition to the Canucks. This to me demonstrates just how great Linden was. If Messier was as great a leader as he was made out to be, he would have declined the offer, and helped Linden to continue building a championship environment for the players. Sadly, we all know how that turned out. |

Just to ram my point home, it wasn't that having two very good goalies is a worse thing than having one very good goalie. It was that while having two very good goalies probably helps you win more games, there's also a higher potential for locker room friction than having just one of them. From my perspective, it's high risk, high reward, which at this point in the franchises' development may be a good thing thing unless you can trade Lu and improve some other position. |

He has never officially asked for a trade, but he did suggest that his time in Vancouver was over, and that he was looking forward to a new challenge. I posted the interview on like page 9 or so...
EDIT - He also said he had never had any specific conversations with the team about where he would be willing to play, that Gillis had never asked him to waive his NTC and that while he did have a long contract, he only had a few more years left in his career. |

Ahhhh, just returned from a lengthy summer abroad and never saw that interiew with Jeff O'Neil. I thought we were still going by his post game comments and Kyper's tweet. |

No problem then he should clear waivers easily then because no one wants a goalie for 10 years at 5.3 per. - VANTEL
Not true at all...just no one wants to give up significant amounts of assets (players, prospects, picks) for him... |

What would probably happen is one of them would say they want to play more, the media would run with it and twist it into saying one of them demanded to play more or else, and then we would all be right back in this same position we are now. - hankthetank

I truly believe that if both were to start the season in Vancouver, that the expectation would be to split the starts, but that eventually, AV would go with the guy that earns more starts. - 1970vintage

It was seriously entertaining, and showed a lot of Lu's character. If you haven't listened, it's worth the 25 or so minutes. Post game I believe he said he would be "willing to waive his NTC if he was asked", if it was the best thing for the team. Then AV franked it up by commenting to a French reporter... |

Just apparently not Roberto Luongo.
"I think it’s really time to move on, I don’t think it was either one of us, either I demanded a trade or Mike suggest I leave, but I think it was more of a mutual understanding that it was time for me to go and Cory [Schneider] to take over." |
