Luongo is better than all but Quick and Lundqvist on that list. I exclude Schneider for obvious reasons and Thomas because he's done. - Vagabond
I'm just going to ignore the comparisons, and point out one little fact:
It's not just how Luongo is right now.
It's also how he is going to be four years from now.
And five.
And six.

Between bosak, ashton and percy u can have 2 of them and a second but that's for luongo and a 3rd. - MindFr3eak
Here's a crazy stat for you: did you know Ashton played 15 games for the Leafs last year?
I remember he played some, but 15?
He didn't do a single thing in those 15 games. |

How do Canucks fans go from "he's worth a ton, he's a number 1 goalie" to "we'll just loan him to sweden or bury him in the ahl"
he's either worth something or he's not. If you're looking at burying him in the AHL clearly you're thinking he's not worth his contract and by that thinking, with a limited number of teams who would even consider taking on that contract there's even less value to him. It's like saying that Wade Redden was worth something in a trade, until the Rangers realized that his contract was garbage and had to bury him in the ahl because no one wanted him.
In order to move Luongo out, you will not get the value for him you're looking for, which means taking back a bad contract or less value in trade. Reality strikes Canucks fans, but it hasn't hit Gillis yet. - Isles_since_6
I see you read what you want.
I said if we had no other choice rather than taking back a bad contract we could just send him to Sweden. |

Burke needs to make the playoffs this year or he's toast. - Scooby_Doo
What would that be now 9 years? |
|
|
|
MG will never send him to sweden. That is not even an option for the canucks. MG will just keep him as the backup.

Ahhhhhhhh?... No.
Luongo is DEFINITELY not better than Rinne.
Whether or not Luongo is better than Thomas, Ward and Fleury is debatable, but their hardware can do the talking there.
As for Price, Miller, Halak and Howard, I'd take them before Luongo given their age and upside.
Kipper? Personally, I always liked Kipper more than Luongo and thought he was better. |

I can provide reasons for my viewpoint, unlike most of you. |

M-I-L-L-E-R.........1 bad year due to concussions and we throw his amazing stats out the window??? The guy is a (frank)ing beast come on now. - MindFr3eak
Miller is good; I like Miller. It might be a toss-up, but I choose Luongo as better. You choose Miller -- fine. |

it's not a choice. A choice is an actual option you may have. Maybe you could try trading Luongo for a pony in your world.

He's acutally been the only GM in Maple Leafs history. He's a very old man you know |

They would first try for a Unicorn and finally settle for a Donkey |

Why does Vancouver need to move their 3 rd best player from last year? So we can make Leafs happy?

and Rinne ......right...........RIGHT!!!
- billyberg10
Yes. Rinne is good, a perfect fit for the style of team he plays on. Would he be as good on a team that plays more offensively or doesn't bother about defense? I doubt it. Luongo has been an elite goalie for more than one team and in more than one situation. I choose Luongo. You choose Rinne. |

He'll remain an elite goalie for another 4-6 years at least. That's my stand. |

I think both sides would be ecstatic if the trade didn't happen. Send him elsewhere. |

But that's a silly thing to say because Gillis would never do that -- ever. |

Does it bother you at all that you in fact can't just send him to Sweden?
Silly me, facts don't seem to bother you at all.
But I mean, why Sweden? Why not just say that you will force him to be Gillis' butler? |

This approach will do wonders for Vancouver's PR and attracting future UFA's!
I wonder if the league and NHLPA would also have a few things to say about this? - As_I_See_It
