Bieksa#3:
I know you were for this deal:
To TOR: Luongo, Raymond
To VAN: Bozak, Ashton, conditional 1st (19th overall to 30th overall OR 31st overall to 48th overall + 2014 4th)
If Bozak was needed for a replacement for Kesler would you do this instead:
To TOR: Luongo
To VAN: Lombardi, Ashton, conditional 1st
Everyone wins in this deal, Bozak and Raymond have similar value so they cancel nicely, Lombardi is thrown in to potentially even out any loss of return Bozak/Raymond may have had and Vancouver still gets a filler centerman while not losing Raymond at all.
Heck if they would prefer Connolly as a stop gap for Kesler we can switch the conditional 1st for a 2nd. - Steven_Dean I would do the 1st deal but not the 2nd.

much more realistic and likely what the final deal will look like, unless Vancouver continues to ask for more, in which case they'll get more, but have to take back a crappy contract. - Isles_since_6
I doubt they get more from Burke...prob more from Florida thou.
O.k so here is how it pans out IMO.
TOR/FLA first 10 games decided who is giving up their 1st for lou....book it.

He is not terrible in his own end, there was an article proving that, I can't find it but it used Corsi and all that. It showed Toronto was a much better team when he was on the ice rather than off.
Edit: He has also spent the entire summer with a power skating coach. - wolfos412
Corsi Raymond has amazing corsi stats as well. I know a lot of hockey people use them but I think they are a bit debatable |

interesting, maybe I thought Raymond's value was higher than it actually is. Good to know though. |

With Kesler out for a bit I think van needs a guy who can somewhat fill in at 2nd line till he returns. Thus Bozak would be needed - Bieksa#3
Honestly, If u want bozak he is yours, IMO connoly fits into your plans better and with just 1 year left, he had a bad year in toronto, ppg player in Buffalo thou.

I agree with you for everyone except those in bold.
Do you think he just magically came up with 2.21? Get your facts straight before you try and trash talk a member of our fan base. - Scooby_Doo
First off Rinne is far and away the better goalie(better numbers for the past 2 years and more wins)
Smith had a stellar season for Phoenix and put up better numbers and is younger. he carried a below average team to the west finals.
Howard had better numbers than Lu and is younger and only getting better.
Kippur put up better numbers on a team that didn't make the playoffs clearly the better goalie.
Price played for the worst team in the east and still had a similar GAA and % to Lu who was on the best team.
Halak did play less games but his numbers are stupid good and way better than Lu
Lethonen is the most underrated goalie in the NHL on a non playoff team he put up more wins, a better GAA and a better %
Ward has a cup and con smyth 2 things Lu will never have! Put up similar numbers on a worse team.
Miller has gone through injuries and the team was all out of whack last year but he's an amazing goalie and has a vezina another thing Lu will never get.
Thomas if he was playing is obviously better than Lu, better numbers and better resume which include a cup, conn smyth and 2 vezinas
All these goalies are younger(except Thomas and Kippur) and are simply better goalies than Lu. |

U don't agree with ward or Miller....seriously...Miller man? I would give up 3/4 of my team to have Miller. I would trade your entire 1st line for Miller....

Bozak is a Ufa next yr as well I think. I just think he is a better fit a 3rd line center once Kesler returns and it leaves van with much more cap space. |

Fair enough, but even last year watching him play the only thing that was suspect about him was his skating, and since he's been working on that I'd say he should make the team for 82 games. I can't remember Franson out for a bunch of defensive gaffes either. I do however remember Phaneuf, Komi and Schenn costing us games. |

Vancouver doesn't have to move Luongo... Toronto DOES need a starting goalie.
Ian, I request no more Leafs in your headlines please, it seems to bring out the... well you know. Can we get a code name for the Leafs, so we are the only ones who know what you are talking about. I've come up with a few code names for you to consider.

So you have 2 of the top 5 goalies in the league? - walshyleafsfan1
Yes, Luongo and Schneider are both in the top 5 ... Lundquist, Quick and Lack round out that list

I'm not saying he's going to be terrible. I said he has the skill to be a top 4. I think he has some issues though. |

jesus christ Ian. Don't you think by now if Ballard or Raymond had any kind of value at all that the Canucks would have moved them just to get rid of the contracts?
It's beyond laughable that you continue to include them in trade offers as though other teams wanted them.
Luongo's contract is terrible. No team wants to take it on and deal with the last 5-6 years when he's declining. Yet somehow you think you can get value back AND add in another crappy contract as well? What dream world are you living in? - Isles_since_6
Raymond has proven he can score goals. Ballard has proven he can move the puck and be a very effective offensive defenseman.
They dont fit in our plans for the future. They both absolutley have value. Detroit is rumored to be persuing Ballard.
Raymond has scored 25 goals and is possibly the fastest player in the league. He was off last year and I dont blame him. Have you ever recovered from a broken back? |

If Vancouver isn't willing to take the risk on Raymond's recovery back to his old form, why would another team? That is, assuming that's the reason he no longer fits in the plans... |

Unreal, after all the illegible ranting for weeks on end over this summer we do yet another blog with trade proposals to the Leafs.
Ian - instead of continuously going to this hit well can we just stop including new and improved ways of getting these two sets of fans at each other's throats? This subject is older than my grandpa's lucky underwear. - AlexF

I'm not claiming either will get a decent return. The poster claimed that no teams would take them, which is absolute BS.
Luongo is a top 5 goalie in the league.
Raymond at 2.16 is a good pickup for any team. In the right situation he could put up 20g again, and even if he doesn't, he's still a great pker and defensive forward. - Fosco
So Luongo is a top 5........which makes Schnieder a top 4........
1) Lundqvist
2) Renne
3)Quick
4)Schnieder
5) Luongo
I wonder what......Kipper,Ward,Price,Brodeur,Smith, would think of this analysis.
i would put all ahead of both Vancouvers Goalies |
