Ennis is young as well. I think they're the same age, if only a year apart. Why can't Ennis fit into that group any differently than Gagner?
- HonkFortheGoose

He can... as a winger.

Ennis is a nice player, but he's also injury prone. Who is going to fill his spot when he's hurt?

We need depth at center, and that probally means having a couple of wingers on your roster that can play C in a pinch. Ennis fits that bill, Luke Adam might as well.

Ennis is a much better player as a center than as a winger. Bad example.

I agree if Ennis stays and resigns, he has to play center. Ennis at center vs. Ennis at winger is two different players IMO.

yeah...I really hope we do this Gagner/Ryan trade. It will help so much in the long run...IMO

The one major thing i can agree on with "sabres front office" is Darcy has a plan.

With the sabres rumors being attached to Stastny / Gagner makes me REALLY believe and think Ennis is going to the Ducks for Bobby Ryan. But want Ennis's replacement first.

You also should take your own advice. It seems that just about every other post bothers you yet you comment on almost everyone as well. Except you usually talk down to the other poster by saying things like they aren't qualified to post or that they don't have any brain cells

lololol what?

Ryan would be Ennis' replacement, period. You replace a top 6 forward with a better top 6 forward. Figure out positions later. If you can do a deal for Bobby Ryan, you do it. Period.

I disagree.

In 2010-11, Ennis had 20 goals as a winger. He'll be good no matter where he plays.

Ennis was hurt early this year thus his play wasn't as dynamic until later in the year (when he was fully recovered).

It just so happens that he was moved to center as well, and asked to take on more responsability. This was good because he is the most talented offensive player on his line, and that's the player who should be controling the pace.

As a center, Ennis is a nice #2 option. But put him on a line with a legit #1 C, and he can be a legit #1 LW.

Where do all the Ennis rumors come from. The only thing that I can see is that he is still unsigned. Has any legit source ever brought up his name. Titter does not count.

The Sabres would trade for Stastny / Sam gagner to REPLACE ennis as a 2C ......then package Ennis for Bobby Ryan.

Ennis is still an UNPROVEN center / unproven player in the NHL! You cant bank on him doing what he did on the end of last year!

Ennis started to come on before the trade deadline, when he was put at center between Leino and Stafford. Then, when Hodgson was acquired, he was placed back on the wing. It wasn't until he was moved back to center that he started becoming dynamic again. Ennis is shifty. He needs room to work. He only gets that at the center position.

Actually, when we first got Hodgson, Ennis was moved back to wing for a bit and pretty much disappeared for those games until he was moved back to center. That tells me that they should just keep him at center. He has more space to work and play the style game he's more comfortable with. He's very much a Danny Briere style player.

My issue with Ennis is that hes actually not a good CENTER!

Hes shaky in his own end
not very good on faceoffs

But hes good "in space" which playing center you get a lot of.

He's good at faceoffs at home, but his road percentage is terrible. Danny Briere is also shaky in his own end. That doesn't mean he shouldn't play center.
