actually, it was around not too long before the trade deadline. Then Gagner scored 11 points in 2 games and it quieted down until a little more recently. - HonkFortheGoose
yeah...the Gagner rumor was, but not us using that deal to get Ryan.
I'm sorry that the idea of getting Ryan and a 2C excites me and gives me something to talk about |

We're giving up a 2C to get him, and getting a guy who, in my opinion has less upside than Ennis for the 2C role.
This is what we've been trying to get you to do. Post why you like the rumors and stuff. See how it starts a conversation?
Again, not calling you out, just giving some constructive criticism. |

I'm with you man I'd love both of those moves. I like Gagner a lot and I think getting Ryan would be that signature move we've all been waiting for |

flyboys are counting on schenn to log second-pairing minutes when he was a #6/7 in toronto...(oh, that's right...playing with his brother will make all the difference...
if flyboys go into season with this defense, forward group will be worn out by the trade deadline from playing defense all the time - b0s0o1
Considering up until last year Schenn had already proven on multiple occasions he's capable of playing 20+ minutes a night. He's not going to be playing for one of the most unorthodox coaches on the planet, and will be able to strictly play his game under Laviolette. He'll find his confidence again in no time.
I'll take the "risk"

Ya gotta give to get Goose, I don't think losing Ennis and replacing him with Gagner is a huge downgrade especially if it leads to us aquiring Ryan. I like Ennis a ton but I also think we are all not going to like the price he's going to want here. |

The other problem I have with this trade is where Ryan gets put. If you're moving out D and a center, what space do we have on the wing for Ryan?
You've already got Vanek/Pommer, Foligno/Staff, Gerbe/Leino, Kaleta/McCormick and then guys like Tropp waiting for space. |

I would be all about Gagner as a 2nd line center...... cheaper then Stastny and would get the job done.
Then Trade Ennis for Bobby Ryan.
"Sabres front office" guy does make some sense.... i know sabres2012cup you copy and paste some of his tweets. i read through the stuff he says .... its not bad! He is the only one that mentioned that wild / leopold for Cullen or bozak.
Then compared Ennis points per game to skinner as to why ennis wants 4.5 mil
so we will see what happens!

I'd rather keep Ennis. I'll pass on Gagner. I don't think he has much higher of a ceiling than what we've already seen. - HonkFortheGoose
I think Gagner would be perfect for our "youth movement", especially if we only have to give up Sekera and Pysyk.
Remember that Ganer is only 22 years old (Derek Roy wasn't even in the NHL yet at 22yrs old)...
Gagner is the same age as Codey Hodgson, and has had better NHL stats than Hodgson to this point.
Now if you want to put togeather a group of promising young center talent... Hodgson, Grigorenko, Girgensons, and Gagner would certainly fit the bill.
Kick Ennis back over to wing and he's a great young skilled forward. Factor in Foligno, Armia, and possibly even Gerbe and Luke Adam... and now you're looking at a lot of young potential for the future. |

Ennis is young as well. I think they're the same age, if only a year apart. Why can't Ennis fit into that group any differently than Gagner? |

The overpaid thing always seems to come up with the young guys when they want new contracts. We all thought Roy was getting overpaid when he signed his current contract, and look how that worked out. That contract is currently a steal for the type of production we got out of him. |

Gagners maturation is almost identical to Stephen Weiss. Their also very, very similar players. Play the game almost exactly the same. Weiss didn't develop as a stud defensive player until later on, something Gagner is slowly but surely doing himself. Only difference? Weiss is a tremendously better skater.
People that say Gagners topped out at 22 years old are hilarious. 2nd most productive player from his draft behind Patrck Kane and has yet to play on a decent team thus far.
