Grew up in Kenmore, looking there too. Ultimately, the wife would either want to live in the city or in the country.

I need about another 5-10 years before I'm ready for country living.

As much as i would like to move vanek and his contract... If all we get back is a winger for replacement purposes... We lose that trade...

Id move vanek, adam, and a 2nd or 3rd for ryan and cogliano... Then at least we will have our 3C hole filled.

A younger winger with more gears to his game (who we could very well lose to Philly in free agency in two years time).

It's tricky. But on the plus side: cheaper, faster, younger, more physical. Down side: not sure we can retain him, grew up near Philadelphia.

Lets say for poops / giggles we do make that trade:

1) none of us have much hope for luke adam. So who cares what happens to him

2) Bobby Ryan / Vanek still score 30 goals each

The difference between vanek / ryans play would be: Ryan goes into corners, battles hard down low, and brings a physical style of play to the Sabres.

So the physical play with production already gives Bobby Ryan the edge vs Vanek.

The problem I have is when does Darcy remember centers are big in this league.
He drafted a couple kids and hopefully they work out. Derek Roy has been our #1 center for two years we trade him and now maybe coho is. Luke Adam. See ennis as a two maybe. He haa a full 25games at center Love the talk about moves but to me if we dont get a center we dont make the playoffs.

Sabres are definatley looking to use their depth on D to get help up front. Sabres are looking to trade and DO NOT want to be done. Sabres have also had talks with Philly about Sekera. nothing serious, not close, just talks. Ryan and Gagner remain very much on Darcy's radar.

I agree. Vanek for Ryan, although a slight upgrade, is pretty much a sideways move. I still like aquiring Gagner/Pajaarvi(sp) and shipping Ennis to ANA for Ryan.

You may want to add Ryan to a team with Vanek but, if moving Vanek is the only way to get Ryan, I'd do it. An upgrade is an upgrade. Plus, I wouldn't consider Vanek a power forward. Ryan I would. He plays a better all around game, is younger and has a better cap hit. Now, if I was the Ducks, there is no way I'd trade Ryan for Vanek
