I think it's one thing all 7 team's fanbases can agree on, we're all sick of supporting the coyotes, islanders, Devils and Stars of the league. I mean buck up and move them or fold a couple teams. Winnipeg and Quebec didn't get all these chances to save their struggling franchises 15 years ago - I-own_da-Northwest

Lol, the Lames are always good value for a laugh. Why pay $150 buck for a russell peters ticket when I can get a nosebleed ticket for $50 and laugh my ass off for three hours???
And yes, this is coming from a Leafs fan |

This may not be the year for going to the max. I heard an interview, with Elliot Freedman, from Hockey Night In Canada, on the CBC National News tonight. He was saying that he is a pessimist, thinking that there was going to be a hockey lockout, on September 15th. He was saying that the Owners are not on the same page with one another. If that's the case, then there will be no labour peace. He also had a clip of Donald Fehr and he's advocating more revenue sharing, in the next CBA. So I guess that means higher ticket prices for the Canadian teams, so we can keep supporting the Nashville's, Pheonix's and Florida's of the world. If anything, they should cut revenue sharing and allow teams to either move, or fold. As a Leafs fan, I'm tired of our franchise propping up half of the NHL. More revenue sharing is a non starter for me! - PrinceLH
Leave everything pretty much the way it is... perhaps a little tinkering. Keep the CAP but artificially limit the increase or decrease it in year or year to smooth things out. If you look at what the CAP was coming out of 06... it has gone up a lot. Narrow the gap between CAP max and floor... if teams are closer to the CAP floor... they get less revenue from what's shared.
Change buyouts. Flat tax type hit for each buyout... so teams can get rid of dead wood... and if the player resigns with another team, the original team must continue to pay the player... but the CAP hit disappears.
Allow transactions to involve cash... which would allow the rich teams to effectively buy players. Limit the amount of buying to a dollar value on par with the CAP hit for a player and allow only one such move by the purchasing team each year.
Allow teams to have a designated dead contract which doesn't count against the CAP - IF the player doesn't play.
Move Phoenix to Portland or Seattle - but Bettman has to go with the franchise as partial owner along with Gretzky.. they can have a love in together. Make Heally the Commissioner... he still has short man's disease but he isn't quite as short and it would entertaining watching him trying to explain the hypocracy.
Move one of the other questionable franchises to Portland or Seattle. Move the Islanders to Quebec City.
Change the draft rules - no team can draft 1st overall two years in a row IF they don't finish last overall.
and randomly... a few rule changes and other items
1) rename the Dallas Stars to the Oil Kings, Barons or similar
2) rename the Wild to the North Stars - the people of Minnesota deserve that
3) move the Islander franchise simply to get rid of Wang. (the Islander fans have been put through too much nonsense for him to stick around
4) don't allow the owner's fat kids on stage at the draft.\ |

Feaster decided to trade his glass house with heating and electricity, for cardboard boxes with holes in it.
Says they focused on air cycling through the place and what not.. |

The reason that the Jets, Nords and Sens were in trouble, had nothing to do with the fanbase, but with the Liberal Government of Chretien, back then. He allowed the devaluation of the Canadian Dollar to the 63 cent range. He was too busy, balancing his deficit, on the backs of the taxpayer, who had lower buying power. It was natural that the small market teams would struggle, when you have a 37% deficit to make up, versus the U.S. teams, in the league. Now that the dollars are at par, the real picture is being exposed. The U.S. cannot support this level of teams in the NHL. About six of them need to go. Maybe this is a tactic that the NHL owners could use to split the players union. Ditch revenue sharing and let teams live or die, on their own merits. It's almost laughable, that a family of 4 can go to a game, and get 4 hotdogs and 4 pop, along with their 4 tickets, for $99.00. I don't even think you can get one seat, at the ACC for that kind of money. That's where the joke's on us Canadian suckers! |

Terrible rumor of a Getzlaf offer.
Grabs, Kadri, Frattin & a 1st.
Kadri AND Frattin? dumping some half decent talent at forward along with Grabs and a 1sT???? terrible.
Don't get me wrong, I think that Getz can be had, and Grabs+1st is a good start, but adding both of the other two pieces is stupid.
Grabs, Mac, Komi, 1st & Percy is better
We move more salary, a Dman who may not be needed now that we have Reilly and Finn along with a proven 20-25g guy in Mac who will make an immediate contribution

What happens to players contracts when there's a lockout?
Say next off season, Getzlaf is a UFA. If there's a lockout, does his contract still end next offseason?

It's an idiot troll trade. It's not happening because Burke already read the tea leaves and it says lockout. Why trade your assets, when a full lost season makes Getzlaf and Perry UFA's at the end of the year? - PrinceLH
Good point, something I was gonna talk about, as that must be weighing on the minds of a lot of GMs, and will certainly impact how the Doan situation pans out.
I just don't think there will be much in the way of activity so long as there's uncetainty over the CBA |

wait wait wait ... Leafs need to hang to Krapasarek for the eventual Luongo deal.
- BorjeFan4Ever
It's becoming pretty obvious that Lu, who's already said he's on his way out, is gonna suit up for VAN next year, if next year happens |

If they go by what happened the last time, the contract is fulfilled and are paid nothing, because of the lockout. They can't be traded, or signed, as long as there is a work stoppage. |

So he'll still be a UFA July 2013 if Anaheim doesn't resign him? |

That's why there has been no activity lately. Teams like Boston, Chicago, Toronto and Detroit have done little, if nothing at all. These are large market teams and they're sitting it out. You can tell who's lining up with who, in the Owners civil war. These above teams seem to be working in unison. |

If he does not sign, by September 15th, he cannot be signed or traded, until there's a new CBA. With no CBA, then what do they use as a position to how much and how long you can sign a player? This is why the Leafs are signing AHL type players and not NHLer's right now. |
