All of them.
If there is a lockout they can all sign AHL only contracts, same as they can go to KHL or SEL. Waiver exemption has no impact whatsoever.

Though most would go to Europe/Russia as the quality of play will be much higher, as will the money. KHL would be throwing money around left right and center if there's a lockout.

- Big_Lightnin

Most will go to the Swiss Elite league. Great money, easy competition and pure privacy

How would they be able to sign an AHL contract when they already have an NHL contract?

same way they can sign a KHL or SEL contract. It's a different league.

But the AHL is affiliated with the NHL.

Might be a different contract.. But in their NHL contract has AHL crap too.

For example, Dupuis signed an NHL contract, but was sent down to the AHL..

I have no idea how that crap works.

During a lockout it doesn't matter and all the contracts NHL players sign become null when the NHL season officially begins whether it is 2 months in or 4 years later. That's what happened last time.

AHL still operates when NHL locks out. As you said, Spezza played in NHL but was not waiver exempt. He was paid an AHL salary to play. AHL can sign any player, same as KHL can.

AHL clubs mostly still operated by NHL owners, so not in there interest to give players work when they are locked out, but for young players they want to keep an eye on, it's the best option.

I think it has to do with whether its a 2 way(NHL/AHL) contract or one way(just NHL or just AHL)...one way NHL'ers dont have to play AHL...and they can sign a SEL/KHL/DEL whatever contract if locked out, and for more $ than what AHL pays out...Dups had a 2 way so he's bound to play AHL by terms of his contract if NHL lockout....

So really, if they wanted to. Every player on the Leafs could play on the Marlies if a lockout were to happen?

Now answer this. If there's a lockout. Is Getzlaf still a UFA in 2013?

Or is there some rule with contracts where since the season was locked out, that season doesnt count towards their contract?

Since im bored and there's nothing to talk about.

What players do you think are going to have breakout/bounce back/ struggle this season?

Bounce back:

Phaneuf
Subban
Getzlaf
C.Stewart
Duchene
M.Richards
Ovie
Lucic

Breakout seasons and career seasons:

Krejci
Tavares
Toews
Eberle
M.Koivu
E.Kane
JVR

Crappy/struggling season:

Perry
Hossa
Benn
J.Howard
Versteeg
Lupul
St.Louis
Elliott
Karlsson (Think he'll have a good season, but will only get 40-50 points)
Gaborik
Kovalchuk
Weber (He'll still be good, but will struggle a bit without Suter)
Price

- jbold

I highlight JVR only because it really won't take much for him to have a "career" season. He'll be getting 1st line minutes which he didn't get in Philly and all he has to do from there is stay healthy. Still don't expect more than 60 points from him though.

Howard is about to be the scape goat for what will be Detroit worst season in a very long time.

Price, although he's a friggin awesome goalie, I just think he's due to slip for one season and then go back to his normal dominant self.

I didn't select Getzlaf because the bastard screwed me last season in my pool. Even though I still ended up winning it certainly wasn't cause of him. The way I see it, with every strand of hair he's lost; he's dropped in results on the ice.

theoretically, though if Leafs allowed this, would piss off the other owners, because they are giving their own locked out players work, which contradicts the point of locking them out.

1 way NHL'ers would have to sign an AHL contract, but yes they could....however they would make a lot more money playing overseas instead...not sure if salary cap in AHL though....

For me it was hockey. I used to play with a really short stick because I couldn't shoot hard enough with one that was my size. AKA I was the hunchback of Hockey. I was 6'2 using a 3.5 foot stick
