refresh my memory, doesn't the AHL salary affect re-entry waivers?
- nastyflyergirl

Absolutely. And with Bourdon's AHL salary at 105K for this Season. If he was waived, cleared waivers, and demoted. He would not have to clear recall waivers to be recalled.

And I don't think that is an accident on the Flyers part.

You're right, we won't know what this mix will look like defensively until they take the ice. It appears to me, though , that the defensive talent has not increased.

As for how the team in front of him plays, I wouldn't expect much to change. Coach has his system, and I don't know he'll be changing it to include more neutral zone traffic nor to prioritize defense. I guess the core of what I'm getting at is that Bryzgalov doesn't just have to fare better, he has to be the one erasing the mistakes in our zone.

A simple change from a 2-1 or 2-3 press forecheck to a 1-2 forecheck would suffice.

I can't recall what the cutoff is. I don't think he would clear waivers tho.

Waiver-eligible players on minor-league assignments are subject to reentry waivers if they are recalled and their minor-league salary is greater than $105,000 in 2009-10 and beyond.

I doubt that he would clear waivers also. But it does give the Flyers an option.

And I'll also add that that is under the current CBA. Who knows if that will change.

I suppose this year the Flyers will be icing their own version of the Whiz kids. I can deal with a struggling season if it means longterm success. That's if this is in fact going to be a bad season, it's not like in 2007 when there were too many over the hill players, we're just looking at the prospect of struggling with a group of developing but talented young players. This team hasn't played a shift as constructed yet and looking at the free agent pool and available trade pieces I'd say plow ahead as is and see how it goes. There was a saying we had where I used to work, If you're scared, say you're scared.

he still won a world series, was a big factor in why they did, and yet he still gets booed. Point is once you've been selected for scapegoating, it matters not what you do hereafter in philadelphia.

Homer's fond of targeting young players with unrealized upside that could benefit from a change in scenery, and for giving former 1st-round picks a second chance. I'd expect him to target guys like Nik Hjalmarsson, Kris Russell, Bobby Sanguinetti, Ty Wishart over the bigger/more expensive names that have been bandied about.

True, and his success record ranges from Braydon Coburn to Nik Zherdev.

Eminger is a Norris candidate. So much so they will be changing the name of the trophy to the Eminger Trophy.
