That may very well happen, but with good management it should be easier because there are assets that are worth something. I always said that the 2004 cup run really hurt the Flames in the long run, because it made people think they could twea their line up and they had the peices necesary. I also said the same of the Oilers cup run in 06. They gave out some really dumb contracts after that run thinking these guys could maintain it. Both teams just got on a hot streak behind hot goalies.

Dont know you can really compare the 2 teams after their runs. Look at the regular season records & the Flames were a playoff team & had won their division(yeah I know we always lost in the 1st round) but we had some pretty solid hockey teams for 4-5 years after our 2004 run. If I'm not correct, Edmonton missed the playoffs right after their run & its been downsledding ever since until maybe some will argue till last year, but you guys still had the 2nd worst record in the league. It wasnt like resigning the likes of Iggy/Kipper/Regehr/Phanuef(debatable)/ Langkow were terrible signings, even the JBO signing seemed like a huge move for us at the time. Flames arent a case of poor signings of players in their peak, it was frittered away opportunities & poor calculated gambles by our GM at the expense of our future.

Good line... but that didn't happen.

It's getting to be the dog days of summer. Anyone on here is probably an idiot. There hasn't been anything over the top as yet. I'm sure if you guys get a mod, they can be just as trigger happy for your threads as I am in mine.

Ive submitted a name to the admins for a possible candidate. The convo's havnt been overly busy as of yet, but are beginning to get a little more rowdy as the days go by.

For the time being, I do let some of the other refs know if anyone is getting out of hand.

Dont worry Whipper, we will meet the Nucks in the first round of the playoffs and knock them out.

that would make me so happy

Seems to be good luck for either team when they meet in round one aren't they like 4 out of 5 getting to the finals when they meet 1st round?

Kamloops is mostly flames fans so the anger would stay west of the Coq

And no fires would be lite as they maybe be misconstrued as support for the flames

Morning bud. I didn't get a chance to comment yesterday, but I agree with what you were saying. I'm starting to be able to see where Feaster's heading with this stuff. He's targeting the late 20 year olds that will allow him to transition from the current squad of vets to his up and coming squad of rookies without rushing them. And he's trying to bring balance and competition to the entire lineup in virtually every position.

I like it. We may not get the sure fire first overall superstars like the oilers have, but many of the biggest stars in the league weren't drafted first overall... I think there's still potential for this strategy to succeed.

In my opinion, he's just entering stage one this year of his plan. Last year or so was doing his best to sort out the mess that was left behind for him.

Im still very much eagerly waiting for some bigger moves from him so I can actually assess him. So far its been somewhat wishy washy imo.

We saw last year with Richards that he's willing to go hard after a legitimate star player... This year that wasn't really available so he identified some needs and filled some holes. By next year he will have some of his draft picks knocking on the door and we will really start to see what he wants this team to look like.

Hey guys...as promised, I worked a little with Huddle to get a mini blog done about our prospects...he compiled a list of his notes and thoughts about who he felt were notables.

I believe he will be posting soon.

Morning....I had written up some of my own notes about the prospects, but frankly Huddle knows the prospects much more than I do, save for the recent guys the Flames drafted.

hey colin

might be an interesting idea for a blog, but how do you see a potential short season effecting the flames?

Will it effect Iginla's chance at resigning since its a shorter period to see how feasters changes have worked? Does it make Kipper consider retiring or going to the KHL after 2 more years? And is it enough time to test out cervenka and backland?
