The players don't get paid their salary during a lockout.
Philly offered The huge signing bonus becuase they didn't think Nashville would pony up paying someone that huge amount of money to not play as only the signing bonus gets paid out.

does anyone know? im pretty sure it burns off a year.

EDIT: i guess it does. Gomez signed a one-year deal before the lockout and signed another one-year deal right after.

2005/08/12 Re-signed as a restricted free agent by the New Jersey Devils to a one-year contract.
2005/07/31 New Jersey Devils tendered a qualifying offer.
2004/10/25 NHL lockout: Signed with the Alaska Aces (ECHL).
2004/08/10 Re-signed by the New Jersey Devils to a one-year contract.

I don't mind the shortening of all words...just things like

vaca (instead of vacation)
convo (instead of conversation)
etc...

good questions and great blog as always mr. Engels

surprisingly imo i'd say the leafs arent as bad as ppl think (their team future is tho) but the Sens at the same time i dont think are as good as ppl think unless of course you're a fan who really believes Karlsson is gonna put up 70 points per season (yes THAT was the incredibly big difference), its not hate but i'm not convinced...i still like em better than the leafs lol

but yeah the Sabres are definetly gonna be a threat this year no questions there, if healthy they could challenge for the East

Habs can only make 8th if they get a breakthrough player, because well its gonna be hard with the new version of the Canes

Montreal lost Kostitsyn a 25 goals a year player, and Cammalleri a 35 goals a year player and we have replaced them with a piece of crap player ( Bourque).

Unless Prust can score 40 + goals this year, Montreal will finish 15th in the east again this year.

No matter how talented Camm was/is, he only averaged 22 goals in Montreal.
Prior to last seasons 18 goal effort by Bourque he put up 2 consective 27 goal seasons.

Can he do that in Montreal? Probably not but he could probably put up atleast the 18 he did last year and maybe burst out with an eller and match Camms average of 22.

Big Tits averaged 17 goals in the last 3 season, I won't be suprised if the added ice time by one of the younger guy or guys can and will add 17 goals to the team and even if they fall short of that, the effort will be there 10 fold compared to what big tit had been showing.
