Same trolls that kept saying Parise was leaving, and Devils fans insisted he loved NJ and the franchise too much to go anywhere...
Now the trolls say the Devils are in some major financial troubles, and Devils fans are saying its not that bad...

Is there a pattern forming?

Sorry, I know it's rare to come from Rangers fans.

Didn't mean to confuse anyone.

I know you Canadians are set on gaining more franchises and, hey, I'm all for that, but I think here are at least 3 organizations in worse positions than the Devils.

The Devils are not the most financially viable team but I also don't think they're even close to being moved when you compare them to the Yotes or even the Isles.

I, for one, would hate to see the Devils move. I mean, I absolutely hate them but would be heartbroken to lose that rivalry, personally.

Funny how they pine for more teams when the reason they dont have them is because they left in the first place. Weird to hear them talk about this stuff. The Devils are going nowhere. Dont worry.

I doubt they will move, there's a solid chance a new owner (or owners) come in.

Someone who would buy the team and move them, would have to be able to buy the team, pay off the 20 year lease, get approved by the NHL BOG, and find a better location with a stadium that fits the NHL standards. There's a little chance in hell they move.

Where the problems comes in is Vanderbeek. He wants someone to take over 48 percent of the Devils, but let him be the day-to-day owner. No one was to throw over that much money to let someone else run it for them. The co-owner system rarely ever works in professional sports too.

Reading comprehension is a failure for 90 percent of hockeybuzz. Except for a few idiots, I'm sure you know who they are and they know who they are, most of the Devils fans never said he wouldn't leave New Jersey. We just said that there was a very good chance he stayed in New Jersey, when other people were quick to say he was a Canuck, Leaf, Penguin, etc. Not only that, people used bogus reasons, which Devils fans knew were wrong, to speculate that Parise wanted out of New Jersey. All we did was disprove those reasons, like the "if he wanted to stay he would've signed already" but Devils fans knew Lou doesn't sign during the season and Parise was open to negotiate as well.

Never did any of the reasonable Devils fans say he was 100 percent staying in New Jersey. Even then, it was down to Minnesota and NJ plus it took Suter going to Minnesota to finally persuade him to go to Minnesota, along with numerous family ties to the area as well.

It's because Canada doesn't have enough people. Yes, Canada made hockey and they are obviously extremely passionate about hockey but that doesn't make professional hockey viable everywhere in Canada. The US has many more large markets than Canada and without expansion to non-traditional markets we wouldn't have successful franchises in the southern and south western states. Yes, the Coyotes franchise blows but look at Dallas, Nashville, Tampa, San Jose, Anaheim, and Carolina. These are teams that took time to cultivate a fan base which is a long process but it worked. Atlanta, Florida, and Phoenix might not be working but so far the NHL has had more success in non-traditional markets than failures.

Oh, I agree 100%...there are teams worse than them, and I don't want to see them go anywhere, and don't anticipate it for years...
They would have to continually struggle for several consecutive years before the threat of moving them actually takes place.
Heck, the Yotes have struggled since they moved to Phoenix.
I was just saying $20mil isn't a small number, and they have a hundred million committed to one player...when you are already financially in trouble, that doesn't help...

You do know why they left right? When Quebec & Winnipeg were struggling the Canadian dollar vs the US dollar was like $0.60US = $1CDN, so when you bring in concessions, tickets, merchandise in CDN funds, but have to pay players in US funds, the large difference in the exchange rate is HUGE...
And only 2 teams have left, Winnipeg and Quebec City...should we start counting how many teams in US markets have been moved?

Fair enough...I guess all fan bases definitely have some idiots...although it seems like there are a lot more idiots in Leaf Nation, but I think that has more to do with just how many Leaf fans there are...

Exactly...Canada has 1/10 the population of the US. Winnipeg for example doesn't even have 700,000 people...the markets in Canada are pretty limited...like outside the cities that already have an NHL team the only 2 places I could realistically see another NHL team coming to are Quebec City and another one in the Greater Toronto Area...Canada at most will only ever have 9 NHL franchises.
What is funny about those franchises you named with decent fan bases in the south, Nashville and Dallas still both lost money last year...I don't know about the rest...

Unless you don't plan for a pre-game stroll through Newark, there's nothing bad about the arena...

If the arena where in the Medowlands it would be perfect.

Congratulations - every "fact" except for saying that the US has more people than Canada was wrong. There are no succesful franchises in the southern and south western US and all the successful teams that you listed are losing money.

The "fact" is that hockey has only limited, interest in the US focused in a few markets. To try to build a national league out of niche market is simply bad business.

As a hockey fan who happens to be Canadian, I don't have any concerns about there being more American than Canadian teams. What I do want is more financially viable teams and if teams have to be moved because they can't make it work, I don't really care where they end up as long as they have a chance to make money. I do know that new teams in Toronto, Quebec City, Hamilton would all make money.

Making a good playoff run is usually make or break for these small teams.

The immediate location is not bad at all, it's just like every city. There's parts of the city that are bad and parts that aren't. Devils have done a good job around that arena, and it's very close to highways, so it's not like you are going into the center of the city, it's pretty much on the outskirts of it.

You would think so...
Yet Nashville made 2nd round and are hurting...
Yotes made 3rd round and are hurting BAD...
Devils made SCF and are hurting...

Leafs haven't made playoffs in 8 years and make the most money out of any team by far...
