I think that Ennis' camp would want a shorter term deal. Since he was injured last year, he doesn't really hold the cards, and therefore would want a 2-year deal to go out and prove that he's worth the mega-bucks.

the kid has exactly ONE 20-goal season. Let's not kid ourselves, and hopefully he isn't kidding himself.

He sounds like a level headed kid but who knows what kind of talk the agent is putting in his ear. The statistics that agents come up with for contract negotiations are borderline comical but I guess that's their job. We all knock Darcy but the s*&# that he probably has to deal with when talking with agents is annoying. Tim Kennedy would probably still be a Sabre if it wasn't for his agent, the kid had everything going for him in Buffalo and unfortunately made the wrong decision along with his agent.

How sick would that be if the Bills announcment today was that they were building a 1 billion dollar stadium in downtown Buffalo?

I can guarentee its not... but it would be awesome

- Sabres2012CUP

Well that would sure keep the team in the 716.

who did I have Langkow mixed up with.. hmm..

You are correct.. he does look like he would be a good 3rd line center..

didn't he make like 4.5M last year though?

- JVince11

Yes, but that was more based around previous production. Good, gritty, no-nonsense guy, comes to play every night and, at this point in his career, should give you 30-35 points.

I wish one of these guys would just say to their agents, "You know what? I want to be a Buffalo Sabre, and the $$$ you're asking for, even I know it's ridiculous. You're fired."

You would have to think that if there is an impasse in the Ennis contract talks, that the landscape for a trade beckons with each passing day. I would certainly entertain that option at this point. I'm not saying that is what is going on right now, but if the next 2-3 weeks pass without an agreement, one has to wonder what Regier could do.

Homer has been non existent

last time he was on was maybe a week or so ago and he said that absolutely noting is going on at all and that they were still waiting on Doan. He also voiced his opinion that he was having doubts that Darcy was going to be making any major moves to help with scoring.

Well Ennis is not talking bout 2 Million..

this is the difference between making 2.7M and making 3.25M...

when it comes to 500k.. this is just getting petty..

Tim Kennedy saga.

The guy is getting nothing if he doesn't play.

And not every player is worried about money. Some just want to be paid fairly, and I don't think Ennis is worth $5-6 million yet. Half of that, for what he's accomplished in his VERY SHORT NHL career, or he can sit.

So you would turn down an extra 500k? And Ennis is by far a better player than Kennedy.

Why even sign Ennis? We know Lindy will just not use him correctly. With a good coach who trusts him Ennis could be 70pt guy

It's not just the agents. It's the players association as well. They don't like it when players take "discounts" because it gives other comparable players less footing in future negotiations. Also, getting a bigger contract gives the Players Association more power in the CBA negotiations.

If it's $5ook that's keeping him off the ice, then they all can go F themselves. Ennis doesn't deserve to play, his agent doesn't deserve to represent and the GM doesn't deserve to manage.

oh come on. would you do that with a job you really wanted or would you try and get the most you could from your employer? and don't say it's different based on the sums of money involved because those sums are relative.

When we're talking about millions of dollars, how much is enough? If you had $10 million in the bank, and someone dropped another $10 million in, is your lifestyle going to change? You wouldn't even know it was in there.

And who is the judge and jury when it comes to comparing player's skills/numbers vs. one another? No one in the NHLPA is going to say, "Mr. Ennis, we feel you should be holding out for $5.5 million a year, and if you accept the $3 million a year the team is offering you, you will be blackballed."
