I'm sure it's been asked before but would it be better/smarter if Ralph sold the team while he was still alive? From a personal standpoint I'd want to make sure the team I have owned for the last 60 years was handed off right. Maybe there is already a succession plan in place for when he goes? Que the "Jim Kelly has a team of investors ready and willing."

Every study that I've ever seen. Here is the first link that came up when I googled it. http://news.illinois.edu/news/04/1117stadiums.html

We've built 2 new stadiums in the last 20 years and there is almost nothing going on around them that wasn't there already. Bring 70k people downtown 8 days a year doesn't justify spending hundreds of millions of dollars that we don't have.

Which ever option is has the least negative financial impact will be what he would want. He is a terrible owner who makes cash off a historically bad franchise. He bought his way into the Hall of Fame. He doesn't live here or care what actually happens so long as he can profit from it.

Cool man. Lets build another footbal stadium instead. The US only has about 1,000 of them.

IF this rumor is true: No way Myers or Ehrhoff Move. Everyone else is fair game.

My guess the oilers would want to get rid of is Hemsky. He makes 5 mil a year and next year 2 of the Oilers stars are comming up for contracts. i think its Hall and Eberle?? So the oilers could free up some cap space!

as for Schumer / Bills: I hope / wish its a new stadium in downtown Buffalo. THAT would be a HUGE cherry on top! Bringing games / other events to a retractable roof stadium would be huge for the area! Anytime you can bring 65- 73 thousand people downtown is a good thing! People will stay in hotels, go out to the bars, and spend money! Then im sure "other events" besides Bills games could use the stadium!

First of all: Ek DIDN"T mention any Player Names, so the possible deal is effectively alive! If something goes down, I'd like to see:

Sekers or Regher plus ?, for Gagne, plus!

Who gives a (frank) about money we don't have? We're in debt to Chinese up to our scrotum's, we have more government waste then ever. Uncle same can build the boys in red-white and blue a stadium for gods sake. We should get to have some fun around here while we create our own demise right?

Disagree, and Washington, DC would be my case study. For years the Caps played outside the Beltway in a crappy arena in Landover with nothing around it. They move downtown to the new Verizon center (paid for entirely by Abe Polin the old owner) and the entire neighborhood for blocks around was transformed.
- DixonWard

You ruined your own point. Sure, if an individual wants to build us a stadium, have at it. We're talking about taxpayer money here. You're also presuming that the stadium was the driving force in all of that. And sorry, an increase in Sunday bar patrons doesn't make it worth it.

While we're at it, lets stop all research on renewable energy sources and build another Disney resort. And lets put it in Wisconsin.

You do realize that over the last 3 years Myers has 29G's 79A's 108P's compared to Gagner having 48G's 82A's 130P's

Just a little stat pulled from the main blog...

Gagne's gong to Anaheim with Stafford for Ryan. It's all part of Darcy's master plan.

More to the point, it will get people downtown. What they do down there after the game will depend on the options available

That would be an AWESOME plan..

flip our not needed extra d-men... for a "2C" just like they want.. and then trade him for Ryan while keeping Ennis..

BRILLIANT!

Yes it would tax wise.

Consider that he bought the team for $50K and he would be selling it for about $800 Million.

If he sells it while he's alive he'd only have to pay about 15% tax on it since it's a long term capital gain (depends how he has it legally).

However, if it is sold when he dies, it would face a death tax at 55%, plus another 4% (i think) from ObamaCare death tax. Also, Obama wants to increase that to 70%ish for assests over about $4 Milllion.

Didn't Rico or homer call this? Sekera and a prospect for gags. Then gags and staff for Ryan? All this sounds like I've heard it before
